  1. Even though the other stem had less than 20% timber remaining ? The rid stem had a vertical stress crack that ran for 2.5-3 metered cause by the pressure put on it when the first stem failed . He concern was for the householder and her children should they want to leave he house as the remaining stems were both capable of hitting the house / front door .
  2. 45ft sycamore shed a stem partially caused by previous storm damage and water ingress into a scaffold union and potentially branch drop .
  3. Nope it's called starting somewhere , bearing in mind candidates have seen less than 40 actual hours on a saw ( including maintenance ) which I'm sure you will agree is not an overly huge amount of time to become proficient in all aspects let alone a pro when it comes to sharpening . Would you not agree ?
  4. As an assessor as long as something comes out of the back then it cuts which in assessing terms is acceptable
  5. Some cracking pictures of great work and some nice kit :-)
  6. I can't comment on the assessor/trainer but the fact is that there is no actual tolerance set down by city and guilds . Did the saw cut ? Was the saw displaying any unacceptable levels of vibration ? As long as the saw produces saw dust / chip then it is classed as sharp .
  7. Imagine our amazement when the slew rams started leaking , our local hydraulic company come out to fit new seals only to find that the slew cylinders are scored as the last person to have been in there had gripped the floating rams in a vice resulting in a burr that has scored the inside of the slew cylinder . This resulted in a very costly bill to have four more made . Like I previously said this machine was advertised "as fully refurbished in out Delbeattie factory" but apparently they don't consider an integral part such as a slew box to be part of being fully refurbished !!
  8. Invariably the fact that it came from where it did and the pack of lies that it came with which range from it being fully serviced , the cab was still littered with broken glass , it was missing a n/s mirror , the front n/s hub was leaking , the pro sensor was not attached or even had a spade connector on the end oh and the warranty is not worth the paper it was written on . Oh and when asking about the warranty and what it covers I was told ( not so politely) to go away and that the company was not interested .
  9. I would stick with airstreams I bought a pair of hair for a member of staff and they lasted 3 months , it always seems to be the soles that part company but speaking to the main importer they say there are only a handful of boots returned to them because of this . It must be that I know every person that has returned their boots !!
  10. Tractor application - Forestry - Application areas - EPSILON Crane If I had the money !!
  11. The thing you need to remember is that your chain has low kick back characteristics as standard , as long as you employ good working standards and methods you will automatically reduce the potential risk of kick back
  12. In short - as long as your depth gauge is accurately set to the tooth then it is acceptable to have 1- 1.5mm difference
  13. Personally I would look at sourcing your own tractor and consider having a foresterie or a Kronos fitted or even a epsilon . Jake mounts are also a good idea as the crane can be removed if your not using it thus reducing the overall weight of your tractor . The crane is also a little closer to your trailer and for some reason you gain about 1m of actual reach
  14. Yeah yeah interpret it how ever you like but to then post something that contradicts a post I have made ? You my friend are a first class Joke
  15. How strange that my post was removed !!
  16. That will be a timber wolf for you lol
  17. Hi guys I'm looking for some advice on sharpening the feed rollers on my schliesing 200 mx . Firstly is it possible to sharpen them in situ and if so how and what do u use ? Also is there anywhere other that the main importer to get parts ?
  18. double you rope ? cant say i have ever needed double my rope on high installs , as long as you rope reaches the install point and back down it works
  19. this thread should help ART rope-guide help
  20. i have the original art rope guide and there is a far easier way to set them up using only a throw line , there is a thread on here already , might be worth a look
  21. From what i hear The komatsu,s are meant to be well built with valmet running gear and the cranes are strong , the only down side is the cost of parts . but hey that's only what i am told , having had a look and sit in the cab of an 840 i would say that they appear to be operator friendly
