  2. £25 here... the guy literally took 5 mins when he came, not even long enough to drink the cuppa we made him!
  3. Nice looking site, like the design!

  7. If you post onto an open internet forum then you openly accept that many people have different views - just a thought. I did offer constructive advice, I said that if you wanted more information you should send an application. The job ad clearly states: Please "Apply for this job" via eArborist in order to send your CV.
  8. That's exactly what I'm getting at..
  9. Why should they give more information??? If you are looking for a job, and that one sounds like it's in your area then it's up to you to get off your arse and send an application, and then you will find out everything you want to know.. Just because the details are thin, dosent make then pikeys... and I'm sure they wouldnt be very happy about being banded pikeys on an open internet forum. They are registered at companies house, very pikeyish!! It's an advert for chainsaw operatives at the end of the day - what do you think is involved??!!
  10. I am aware of who developed it, and yes, I did mean the TreeMotion. It was Chris Cowell I met up with.
  11. I once had the pleasure to meet the guy who invented and developed the treemotion harness.. over a nice cup of coffee we had a good chat and he showed me how to set it up properly.. It's supposed to be worn low-slung like a pair of hipster jeans (just below the hip bone) and the leg loops highish to the harness.. the theory behind it is freedom of movement whilst working.
  12. Russ, Drop me an e-mail please with your CV and details of any relevant experience as well as your course details and curent commitments, we may well be needing folk for odd days shortly. Cheers, Matt [email protected]
  13. Glad you're ok mate... sounds like it had the potential to be much more severe, thankfully not though.
  14. Hang on... I suddenly see what you mean. Yep... scrap that idea then
  15. Yep, it wouldn't work if the anchor was set high
  16. Dont know if you've got any or not Stevie, but you know the wee bungee cord toggles you get, they're like a small piece of small diameter bungee with a big plastic ball on them.. you can choker that on the lowering rope at the same height as you are working and will stop the pulley from heading skywards...
  17. What's Buckfast then?? Brunch??
  18. I have witnessed that going very very wrong and when the wedge went through the bore it caused the tree to snap off the hinge.. Needless to say the tree went down in the opposite direction to where they wanted it - it was in the wood so no harm done but it serves as a reason why I would rather have a smaller gob and have plenty of leverage through the backcut.
  19. You could also try taking three shots at a dartboard, adding up the score and then adding a zero wherever you deem fit
  20. That's absolutley spot on... I had this with one of my lads last week.. If you're felling a largeish tree, it;s better to use a smaller gob if you know you are going to need wedges as you can knock them in further. If you use too big a gob then after smacking the wedges in a little way they rest up against the hinge and then you're in trouble. This is another reason we carry a 'specialist' wedge on some of our jobs
  21. 34ft circumference?? JC!
  22. Depends how big your hill is!
  23. Alastair.... contact scotweld mate, they supply agency COSS's
