  1. As long as the price is reflected in the type of wood you are selling then the customer gets the same value , ie soft wood burns faster but costs less to buy so it can be sold cheaper, for someone with a log burner who only want it lit for a couple hours a night soft wood will catch up faster for quicker heat output, just need put more logs on, Mike.
  2. Done 26 cube since sept, but got slow now its warmed up, and most people i supplied said what nice dry logs, what they got else where last year was rubbish. so will be hoping for lots of repeat orders:thumbup:
  3. On the link above 7.1.2 and 7.1.3 is the description of wood and firewood and the vat rares to be applied.
  4. Just had a quick look and heres a link for info at hmrc HM Revenue & Customs
  5. This is correct, its only 5% when you are going to be using the wood as fuel for yourself, other wise you are processing a product as a buisness and then selling the timber as logs so it is, cant remember where but its on the hmrc website. explains it all.
  6. Yes i am doing free delivery for 10 miles, then £1.20 a mile thereafter so once the vat goes back to 17.5% i will still get over £1 a mile:001_smile:
  7. How far down do you cut, it looks about half way from the pic, this looks neet what a cheap patio heater,
  8. ' This is the reason i had to change my ad from '1 cubic metre' to 'single load because its easier than tring to explain to people that you would of thought can measure
  9. That sounds very cheap, is that hard or soft wood, unless its just a lower price at your end of the country
  10. And 15% on any delivery charges that you make.
  11. Can you not bag say 20 at a time then when they have sold bag another 20 so they are never in the bags for too long a time.
  12. I think your right i am going to get the delivery changed to 10 miles then charge £1.20 a mile thereafter. Think i will leave kindling as it is now, maybe add a cheaper price for kindling if bought at the same time as the logs, might encourage people to buy more,
  13. I was thinking of one of those but not sure weight they will lift, ones i have seen only lift 500KG and a 1.5 m3 net would be more than that:confused1:
  14. Not too worried about getting on goggle 1st page, i have a lot a ads locally and this will get people looking at it and hopefully then buying. Dont really want call centres phoning all day long.
  15. I have made the 1.5 m3 loads better value as i have got all my wood in this size load. so its easier to load and go with less hassle having to take logs out before i go. as for price i think that is about the going rate in my area
  16. Your inbox is full Mr Ed
  17. Thanks for all your replys sounds like you all think its up to scratch. A friend does web designing so he only charged me £250.00 with web hosting, dont know if that is cheap but sounded ok to me. The nets are £4.00 each plus delivery and vat cheaper if bought in bulk. you got to have a frame for net to hang on to fill in which was £250.00 cheaper if bought in bulk. I load the bags onto truck with forklift and handball them out at moment, then reuse bag if it not damaged. ideally a small truck with hiab to unload is what i need.
  18. Where would you get one of these pellet mills mr ed i burn loads of waste saw dust at the moment to get rid of it,
  19. Would help if i wrote the site name.Firewood, logs, kindling - MSM Firewood, Henley, Langport, Somerset
  20. Hi all. as the title says i have had a website made up for my firewood buisness, any comments on things that need changing or adding are welcome. its only simlpe just so customers can see what i have to offer, its alot easier than tring to tell them over a phone:001_smile:
  21. I have a 6 way on my hakki 1x37 and its fine with all hard wood as long as its nice and straight. any pieces of wood that look a bit knurly ie where a limb has been cut off i just take the ring out of the splitting shut until i swap back to the 4 way knife. but im only using bought in straight stuff not arb wood:001_smile:
  22. I have got a Hakki Pilki 1x37 easy, i think its great but them its 1st processor i have owned so others may be even better
  23. My B2500 has been losing power for about a month then finally it would not rev above 1500rpm. Took it to the local diesel expert and he found that a small piston inside the fuel pump had siezed (water also in filter which i found when fitting new one), he fitted new assembly total £160 which was good news as i was expecting to have to get the pump reconed, did it same day aswell.
  24. Count me in too, great idea
  25. My 1st Thread so hello every one. I am looking for a haulier to bring about 100 tons timber from Stroud, Glos to Street, somerset area. Its for a friend who has tried his normal haulier but they dont want to do it as they have no return load. its about 75 miles. Thanks in advance, Mike
