  5. Thank Steve! Appreciated!
  6. No sweat!
  7. Ok so tubular fids are a go along with the samson splicing book, the bible apparently! BenC - God effort mate, try bending the throat about and bash it with a rubber mallet might help with the whipping!! Dogtag - Good on ya bro glad I could help! Hit the little button that looks like a photo of mountains and you should be able to upload pics! It opens a little window! I'm going to do somemore splices this week, I'll get them up. I think we need a splicing forum!!
  8. These are what you want with a pulleysaver! Seasure Parrel Bead 22mm RED - Only £0.40 - Force 4 Chandlery Will pass through pinto and catch on shackle.

18" on mine and she goes!!
  10. Stories like this make me happy! Shame you had the issue in first place but good result! I hope they weren't bailed!
  11. I guess it depends on venue and assessor, go prepared for anything and as edd said take your spikes and a sling.
  12. Sure have bro, We are liaising with Leon Visser the guy who climbed them. Top guy!
  13. In board & outboard step cuts both hand held and free fall, gob cuts, finishing cut. Quick and easy assessment. Just make sure you don't cut one handed, strop in (keep your strop well away from cutting area). Take your time and be safe! Good luck
  14. What are you using to get it out? Try using a thin knitting needle, pry open the cover as neatly as you can. I try to get right under the core between cover and core. If you where watching the ne video, he says to bend the rope, it easier not to when extracting the core of smaller diameter rope. I find it makes the strands much tighter, but is a good tip on your larger ropes.
  15. Jesus, just looked at my past posts! I apologise for the shocking typo's! I think I'm going to stagger them like Drew mentioned next time, although I doubt they would bunch up, has this occurred Drew or is it purely precautionary? A mates offered to bring me back some samson tubular fids back from the states, worth the £20 for the set? I'm thinking yes, for hollow braids if nothing else. Anyone used them?
  16. where do you go wrong bro?
  17. Just found some nice looking kevlar shears, made in Sheffield! ARS look ace but can't justify that wedge!
  18. Good idea bro, i'll do that next time for sure! Ceramic knives? Anyone use them?
  19. Both bro. I did my old tachyon last week, This where what i spliced this week, I had to let the blisters heal. Was insanely hard! This new tachyon was a breeze, I was shocked. Cut out the purple core though! Im guessing most people do?
  20. This is it Paul, if you don't take the money someone will! May as well do it and try and make the best of a bad job!
