  1. I'm new to climbing aswell, but I would reccomend a pulley for your strop. It just makes it a lot easier when using one hand to tighten. Oh, and a throw line and cambium saver. Saves a lot of hassle when trying to get your rope up to a tricky branch.
  2. If coke fails the brand of descalling stuff which is pretty good is called Killrock, been around for ages and you can get it in sachet or liquid form. You could prob find it in any hardware shop.
  3. spoken to the guys on my course, and have about 5 interested on making a day out of it. Just depends on where and when.
  4. why not try and speak to the main suppliers of chainsaws in the UK, and try and get them to work along side us by enforcing the sales of chainsaws to have regulations to be bought such as having the correct documents. You can allways try and pertition the government on the Gov website but I find that doesn't really help. With all the contacts this site has in the Arb industry why not use them? And like the Corgi registration we can approach people from the AA or RSA and see if they can start a registration program. As for those "cowboys" I beleive there is a website somewhere where you can name and shame them, I remember seeing it on watchdog.
  5. Congrats on the engagement, and to shreks wee brother congrats on the baby. I got prussik pulley and a cambium saver aswell as beer and lots of other things to attatch to my harness, like a bottle for liquids.
  6. And arbdogs tend to be better at chipping those small bits, but then cats can getrid of some of those unwanted pests living in the trees.
  7. meet Wiggy, the size of a small dog and suprisingly enough doesn't eat that much.
  8. I like my hitches like I like my women, smooth on the thrust but supportive when I hang. VT for me
  9. Didn't notice that bit, funily enough it's not in small print lol But yeah I agree it doesn't make much sense to be honest. And surely you can't ask for a buy now price and then state that it is not the final price. As then you are contracted into buying the business, and find out you may be paying a lot more.
  10. surely more money would be made in selling all of the equipment listed. Seems a bit cheap as a business is concerned.
  11. A range of swords, from Broad, Rapiers, Two handed, Scrams.

I also like to use axes, maces, flails, Warhammers.

It all depends on the situation you see ;)

  12. On a serious note, to all those that use an external accountant to deal with their accounts. My father has written a program that is usable by the simple person, cutting out the middle man which will mean you will save a fortune on outgoings. It can be used if you are self employed and also if you have your own company. If anyone is interseted in more details about this please PM me and i can forward on my fathers email address and you can discuss it with him. The program itself will cost £100 and will have a monthly charge (which will not be expected to be more than £10 a month, this is yet undecided as it is still under decision) I do hope this helps with a lot of people at this time when we need to be saving money. On another note I am talking with him about a program for consultancy with Arborists, i know a few programs are used and would like feedback about what people would want in a program for such needs.
  13. Invoice him for the time spent with your solicitors and any other costs that you may have lost.
  14. If you like Metal you may like this, also have a load more. Not for the easily offended. [ame] [/ame]
  15. Bingo, just used my spare prussik but he seems to have found his new best friend. You could try something like a Monkeys fist too, we did that with the college dog and it made a excellent throwing toy. especially with a bit of excess rope to hold on for those wrestling moments.
  16. just made a simple one just now for the dog, I'll see if I can wrestle it off him.
  17. I don't know if anyone else has thought about this but if you have any failed ropes why not make them into knots for dogs and sell them on the bay of e, or in your local pet shop?
  18. it's pretty good, but my mothers chutneys are better
  19. left over ham from roast and my mums special Apple, chilli and mint relish.
  20. TUUUUUUNNNE! was listening to this last night when I had to start work at 11.30pm and get into london for 1am to de-decorate a party at the london hippodrome by 6am. Machette kept me awake!
  21. when ever I have finished a job, I like to say in the best west country accent: Thats Gurrrrt lush that is!
  22. Mine would have to be my Xbox 360, far superior than those sony types I have my 360 wired up to our pc so when I want to listen to my music I play all 150g of it on speakers throught the house and have a nice display going. As an avid gamer been playing games since the day of Atari, and so I find a lot of my rainy day time infront of the tv with my rapid fire trigger fingers
  23. sanny, try making a nunchuck with two sticks and a shoe lace, then throw it into the tree, the challenge is to retreave it. Thats one thing we have been doing aswell as timing eachother up and down a tree. Me and the guys at my college are looking to go to diffrerent areas in the UK to get more experience and nice pictures. I'm hopefully going to try and collect a database of areas of interest for arborists and the public as I want to get a side business of taking people up trees.
  24. Gerber are ok, though when I worked in a camping store we had a lot of refunds of gerbers because they make their tools from a light alloy, we found that a lot of the tools would snap. We ended up taking them out of our shops because leathermans where out selling them, and Leatherman have a Lifetime Guarantee.
