  1. I think I have to agree on the bowl! thats a real beauty!
  2. I don't know if this has been spotted yet and I can't seem to find the thread of someone needing a new rescue knife, but while searching the bay of e I found a new Leatherman called the Skeletool and I for one think it will be my new knife as it has a carribiner attatched to it, as well as all the niceness of being a leatherman. Also a good price too. http://www.leatherman.com/multi-tools/full-size-tools/skeletool-cx.aspx
  3. at the moment there is only a stihl and Husqy chainsaw and a stihl hedge trimmer in the bury st edmunds area. other than that not much but it is also a good cheap bidding site.
  4. I was watching a tv show a while ago and they showed the police auction website at http://www.bumblebeeauctions.co.uk and it shows the areas in which these items are being sold off, may be interesting to look into it and see if any of these items are anyones on here. You can still claim back these items even if they are under auction I beleive.
  5. What about D3D W00D, G0T W00D, CH1P 17, 71MBER and all the other variations.
  6. I can understand the heights issue, not used to it myself as I used to have that nasty thing called vertigo, but give me a purpose when I climb a tree and it dissappears. I bet you get some nice views up in scotland.
  7. that doesn't look like alcoholics to me, it looks like a bunch of teens have done this. you can imagine the situation where they get drunk then decided that having a fight with the left overs for fun. If you think about it, it seems more suiting for them being a secluded area away from view. After all an alcoholic is usually embarrased about their situation and usually hides it, but within the confinds of a building as most alcoholics are adults and usually have a roof over their head. See if you can persuade the police or the community support officers to patrol that area if there is that amount of rubbish being left.
  8. in the words of Peter Griffon - You can't spell overeacting with out ovary, cause your a girl. Sorry it was just on tv when I read the thread.
  9. If people are short of ways to get cash I have a few contacts that need timber, theres a Architectural Salvage yard up my round that also specialises in making oak doors. Usually reclaimed timber but it can be hard to get hold of such stuff so he uses new timber. http://www.coxsarchitectural.co.uk/ I also have a contact who does a lot of wood carving in devon/cornwall area, he makes allsorts from spoons through to furniture but in traditional methods. http://www.cornishwoodworks.com I think I have a few more contacts that like to play with timber, I'll have to dig them out. Hope these help anyway.
  10. Super Furry Animals, this song allways makes me smile. [ame] [/ame]
  11. me and the rest of the guys on my course are going to go out climbing before the new year, there's some really nice views from the cotswold hills round here so gonna take some pics whilst at the top of a few trees.
  12. Work, what is this thing you speak of? I'm just a student and an adult one at that so I get a lot of money per term, which gets spent on nice tools. but only kidding on the work front, I have a part time seasonal job with marque decoration which takes me all over the UK. Applied for work at the arboritum nearby and applying at the forestry section they have aswell just to get some decent work so I can get some more experience and a bit more cash as my account has said £9 for the last two months.
  13. Here's my dog Ozzy, named after his mentality. He's a Jack Russel x Pappinion. Dunno if this has worked or if it's quite large enough to see I'll try and change it. ozzy leap.psd
  14. I think my choice of music is a bit loud and heavy for everyone on here, but I do have a few chilled out tunes in my collection. such as .... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDxMQaMqsig[/ame] and.... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p1JazmClm4[/ame] and lastly..... [ame] [/ame]
  15. Acording to a close friend of mine, if you join the Federation of Small Businesses, as a member you are liable for discount in insurance. I don't know if there is proof of this within anyones experience in the arb industry but it may be worth a look into.
  16. I've just read this thread and I feel your pain you are suffering from the loss of your food! I for one had someone stealing my food when I lived in cardiff, and what was worse was I lived with them. It got to a point that I threatend to eat them if they didn't stop. As my tutor keeps telling me "A contractor is only as good as his last job", pay him and then say if he needs a reference you will be more than happy. And if such a thing happens you can inform the next employer how he likes to pilfer food.
  17. who on the forum likes to just grab their gear and have a day climbing a tree for fun, and if so do you have any favourtie sites to climb? Obviously talking about trees here. Non of that pansy rock climbing
  18. I'm a student without my tickets, but I have had plenty of groundwork experience and am certainly not lazy. I'm looking for work to obviously give some more experience and to help with the cash flow, I'm currently available one day a week but for my second yr of training I have to go out into the industry. If anyone near to Moreton in Marsh, Chipping Norton, CHipping Camden, Stow on the Wold please let me know if you need a helping hand.
  19. My tutor (Gareth Meadows, Moreton Morrell) recently went to a seminar in Cardiff Museum about Fungi and and trees, and came back with some interesting information. One of which is quite facinating and would answer why you have found Hoof Fungus down south. It's all to do with the tree allready containing the fungus and having the right conditions to germinate, and with todays climate being warmer and a bit more moist they love it! I'm going to try and get the report paper from him when I go back in jan and scan it for any that would like to see it.
  20. Infact heres a site that explains it all. http://www.propertylawuk.net/adversepossessionsquatters.html
  21. By all means check it, I'm not to sure on the details. But I was informed by a friend of mine who is studying law down in Cardiff that it has definatly changed for the benefit of the land owner and not the squatter. And it has been a recent change.
  22. the law on squatters rights has changed within the last year, no longer can you claim squatters rights if you have occupied land/building for a certain amount of time, unless you have the permission of the land owner. It involves them sending you a letter saying "please can I have this?" and you saying "Fornicate Off!" I think you have chosen the right conservative and proffesional option with making him pay for new trees. It shows you have "balls" and that you are prepared to be leniant with his mistakes. As for your pikey problem, remind them how easy a chainsaw goes through caravans next time they pay you a visit.
  23. Wow, thats a lot of information and I'm not the only person who is greatful. My fellow students and I feel there is almost a lack of information available unless you are a member of either of the Societies. As poor students we cannot afford memeberships as of yet. Perhaps someone could make information a bit more available as the more information available the better we learn. But never the less I am very greatful for your assistance, over the next three years we are no doubt going to be looking into more research and any that is available would not only benefit us but inspire us to look into different areas to improve techniques for Arboriculture. Thanks a lot Arbocop
  24. I'm actually studying a HND and this is one of my first essays, I just have to focus on the history of arb in general and pick an area to focus on. I also have to look at major developments within the last 30 yrs, I believe what you are looking at Tom will help a lot, I have looked at shigos work but at the moment I still haven't had my loan come through so books are limited to me at the moment.
  25. Hi, can anyone assist me in my lost state? I'm currently searching and searching for research papers that mainly concentrate at the history of arb in the last 100 years, I don't mind what area it covers, if its to do with the evolution of chainsaws or pruning techniques I really am not fussy. but anyway any help would be appreciated.
