  2. Found these on a fomes a few weeks back not sure what they are but seemed worth having a photo
  3. Found this next to a young lime avenue planted after original avenue was blown down in 87 ,stumps were burried had merrip appear like this before from a burried oak stump last year but this seems a bit different but it bruised like merrip when touched

  5. Might not work but maybe some sort of shoot like builders use for fill skips or to send logs down a slope cut of half and ends of join them togeather with cable ties seen something like it a few years ago they were round ones used.
  6. we had all our spruce trees wide spread in similar condition this year from plantings to 25year plus trees with no signs of insect damage with this years new growth not affected,we put it down to drought conditions or possible frost damage,over the last couple years of warms springs we have had trouble establishing norway spruce plantings with the ground drying out so much but this year its not so bad so shouldnt have so much beating up to do:001_smile:
  7. no mate but will show it you when you down later in summer, It the beech next to the deer leap we opened up was a big limb i reduced back on the side near the stump treated:001_smile:
  8. we had same thing happen to a beech when treated stumps near to it, i put it down to root grafts ,3 years later the beech seems ok but had to remove a few limbs that didnt do so well.

Thought i wood share as the reason i havent been on arbtalk much,The last few weeks on evenings i been learning how to carve and make furniture with wood artist ian morrison,he hasnt used a chainsaw much before and on his 3rd hip replacement so i been helping cut out the basic shapes and he does the detail we had them on display at our first show we done together at the weekend with some furniture we made together and his other sculptures hope you like:001_smile:

  15. Think these 2 yews fit this thread well worth a visit allsaints church ulcombe not far from the A20 lenham,truely amazing trees the biggest yews i have seen you need to see for your self words and pics dont do them justice

  18. cheers nick we had some year old chestnut 2m lenght 5 bays stacked high acheive same sort of weight 23-24tone on a unit that can carry up to 26 tonnes had a load of larch 2.3m length the other year stacked high on a unit that could carry up to 29tonne and only got 24tonne had been cut for 3 months and dried out a bit as it was summer.
  19. Hi Nick hope you dont mind me asking but whats the most lose m3 or solidcube you have got on your lorry if you have had to dome the tops to get the weight?
  20. to true ,the only way your solid m3 will be close to your tonne is if it is green eg oak beech or summer felled ash
  21. we sometimes sell by loose capacity filled in a lorry in m3 but often i will work it out in solid m3 with out air gaps
