  8. that ash sounds good david hope you and your family are keeping well. i know what you mean when it comes to making time to be creative lol,hopefully when logs have stoped will get round to milling the walnut when get a free weekend,almost finished mychestnut block 1 acre,and some 4acre we have sold standing has been started this week i will extract it like last year at weekends going to be a big year for wood got a contracter coming to help fell 100 large poplars soon and some other trees near a the main road,hopefully will start planting next week i know it a bit late but had to get coppicing done so grant could be claimed:001_smile:

  9. milled some elm this afternoon that i felled 2 year ago, hope to put it to good use around the estate a basic bench my first thing i been asked to make

  12. the rarest fungi i have found was on a beech bearded tooth fungi so gives it some brownie points for the beech:thumbup:
  13. cheers monkeyd out of oak beech are they both nitrogen fixating like birch or are all trees with some been more than others ?

  15. i know it a bit sad but i wonder out of oak and beech which has the most different types of fungi that live on them i guess the oak is stronger so copes with decay better

  21. i enjoyed all the vids,sometimes you got to just do what you can to get job done,ive opened up gobs in the past and use back to front felling cuts,just make sure i am xtra aware, ok there are the text bookcuts we learn but every tree is differentand dont always go to plan ,nice jobmate hope to see some more vids:thumbup1:
  22. amazing photos niceone.be great to go and visit the coastal redwoods about 3years ago i went to visit some of the sequoias groves was the best holiday ever but ran out of time so didnt see the coastals,is redwood in photo albino because of the lack of light at that part of the tree or something else? looks cool:001_smile:

  25. cheers David the woodsman before me showed me that kind of tree guard use square type for conifers and the parkland around the main house has post and rail roundles with sheep guards inside so keeps the cows and horses away but lets the sheep in to keep the grass down,that a spelling mistake to be proud of(pitchers)
