  2. I'd go and see your local dealers and firstly theirs the cost between the big brands but secondly there is their service. My new local 1 is brilliant, don't try calling their main depot as the phone system is useless but the salesman and storeman call you from their mobiles, text at anytime and jump in their cars and hand deliver if they have too, and we are pretty rural so that's worth a lot!
  3. Ah ok, now I live in the highlands, most of the digger work I see is hill roads for shooting and hydro. Every machine from 2 ton to 30 has a tilty. I've even seen a micro digger with an Engcon head at a hire company!
  4. She was around 125'
  5. Good thinking, a rummage around the kit bag in the middle of no where! On big pines I've always attached my main line after a certain height, usually about the 40' mark, it's just the height I start to get concerned. The weight of the rope when you are above 80' gets a pain and falling limbs can snag etc, so I always put the bag on upside down once ive attached the main line to keep the rope out the way, now with ropeguide I slide that up as I go and that's my safety line so to speak.
  6. I doubt they would be classed as litter. If it bothers you, take them off, as for putting on the stumps I don't see the point as the tree is now gone.
  7. Yes 6 ton mate! It's had more hits than Justin Beiber this week
  8. Don't know how to compare tbh, I'm only on just over idle and spilling more than I load! Tons of power , been using it all week with the loader to! Serious pushing power compared to a tractor and loader.
  9. Very nice! Great advert for the battery saw!
  10. Nice! Look forward to seeing the end result
  11. Horrible jumpy back bone shaking things, the older ones have problems with the cogs and chains! I'd be looking for a tracked dumper instead, yanmar around the ton mark.
  12. Nice 1 Robert, how is it with rings?
  13. Had a good day on the old girl today! Suprised myself with my fork skills and loaded 2 dumpers loads! Nearly bit through my tongue twice and spilled more than 1 Loaded! All in all though I didn't miss tracking about everywhere to get things. The noise was very nostalgic it brought back a lot of memories watching them for hours as a kid at my dads work desperate for a go!
  14. I've taken it as Px against my CAT 307, it wasn't doing much and shifting it about was a pain! I'm going to play about on this and if it works get a new 1! It's the Grey Cab Turbo, old school guys claim it's the best 1 they ever made, it's on normal JCB controls so will take a bit of getting used to but I'll stick at it! It's piped up for a grab and rotator with electro hydraulic switches on the levers! She isn't pretty paint wise and has a few scuffs as you can expect from a 29 year old machine. They say they still dig better than the new ones. If she works out I might just keep her for my village work and not bother with a lump of finance
  15. There comes a time where you have to jump up a level! Get a yard, get a bigger van, trailer, staff etc. Then 2-3 jobs a day don't even cover wages, so you need to do 8-9 jobs, earn 3 times as much, then it's finance, debt and stress! My advice is enjoy your runs to the tip in the van with the radio on, because you are chilling and not physically working yourself into the bone. When you get a huge truck and staff, these little breaks don't come along, when the customer asks if you want a cuppa and your lads all look up, you only see pound signs going down the drain!
  16. Does that involve just starting it and nothing else? If so no bother
  17. Getting this old girl on Thursday!
  18. See Sean, this is how these threads go!
  19. So ive now just had to spend 10 minutes of my time going through this and the other thread that I didn't really have to because we know about these things as mods, I woke up to 11 emails this morning about reported posts. This is just 1 of those threads I now have to keep an eye on!
  20. That's cool!
  21. Had a wee go in this today!
