  3. hey treetop, you look like a tree cutter, so you are half way there, if you like cutting trees and dont mind the cold/wet and hardwork then you will get on fine. there is a lot of doom and gloom in all industries just now, its no different here. dont chuck your day job just yet, but try and get some experience. there are loads of yorkshire guys on here mate, so its a headstart for you. good luck

  14. me too tom, pulleys and things are great on the right job with the right groundstaff, i have an old climbing rope, or i would be lying if i didnt say i used the other end of my line, keep a little nug and lower bits myself, simple and effective:001_smile:

  18. good job mate, i used to have a to behind arbor eater with turn table, noisy noisy crap chipper. but it was cheap and got me started.
  19. dont put a step in your back cut, and even go lower than the hinge, keep an open gub, with a high face. once it starts going keep it going, a bit like felling young sycamore with the sap up. works for me.
  20. i find a big set of one and a small other only helps in this job:001_tongue:
  21. spikes or no spikes? 25m/80foot tree. personally i think the average hardwood isnt much over 50 feet. i have been up the top of a tree in a couple of mins and i have also spent 2 hrs trying to get 30 feet through ivy infested hell.
