  1. you got the tree down safely and you didnt hurt yourself, anything else is a bonus in this game, it just means now you will be minimising the risk to yourself.
  2. that was certainly split mate, personally i think you should of moved the road and let it be:001_tongue:it was good as a slide show, i usually get bored and zoom through them.
  3. your climbing is obviously better than you thread naming tom, i feel a moderation coming on:001_tongue:but it got my attention
  4. any pics there tommer, still a bit rusty with all the arb jargin:blushing:
  5. hi mate, i would like to say you have taken all this advice like a pro, you have had the guts to put up your vid and man enough to take a few pointers. if this is any reflection on your skills as a climber/cutter you will go far. when i was your age i thought i knew everything. and it held me back a fair bit until i was willing to listen. good on you mate:001_cool:
  6. i was holding my head in my hands there, i dont know which bit was the worst:ohmy:
  7. watch out when doing felling cuts on lime, i would always do it at a size i could just push over, and do break cuts. if the hinge isnt right and holds on to much it could rip and swing the lump backwards and off to the side and land behind you, in that case the building. and you will have to dodge out its way, next time just fell it mate:001_cool:oh to be so old and wise:001_tongue:
  8. hi mate, just a couple of pointers, chain brake!!. if your hand is coming off, use it especially if its not the throttle hand. two hands on the saw at all times and when you have wedges in, aluminium or not i like to keep my right hand at the top of the handle so if i get kick back i can stop the saw hitting them and you are in a better position to work and escape if you have to. and your saws dont seem to be running too well. maybe its an orange thing:001_smile:
  9. cheers guys, thanks for all your input, and thanks for the offer mate
  10. i have just recently started to use a hitch climber after using prussik loops for years, i can really see the benefits in a very short time, i just have to practise more and tweak it they way i want, but now i am already fed up with having a prussik loop on my side strop, i have a grab on my steel core flip line, can i get one that will work on rope, and what do you guys recommend. the steel one is fine for big dismantles on a stem but to clumbersum in a crown.cheers.
  11. the mans a monkey, i tried it the other day with my hitch climber and vt, i found that my legs pulled down more than my arms could stretch up, and i was on a banking so my rope was never directly under me, but when you caught ut just right with the widest part of your foot it was excellent. i have binned my prussik loops already.
  12. feeling like a door knocking cowboy is your anxiety mark, you have a duty of care, explain what you have noticed about the danger, give him a price at the same time and leave it with him. if the tree falls down and hurts someone then you will feel even worse if you dont dont say anything mate. i told someone about a leaning pine one day and advised it should be felled as it was beside a 5 aside, nothing got done about it, 2 weeks late it came down and wrecked a fence and landed on the pitch, lucky no one was hurt. but i am glad i said anyway
  13. 40 feet:001_cool:well done:001_smile:
  14. how high did she have to climb, i have been climbing for 11 years now, prusick only. i tried footlocking the other day for the first time. i was knackered afer 8 feet.
  15. well done josh, it was mr bullman. the cheeky sod:sneaky2:but he was good enough to send me some pieces of rope for my new hitch climber:001_smile:send me your address mate:001_cool:
  16. if you have the money, and dont mind loosing it. buy one. but there isnt much room in them compared to the navara. i fancy a 4x4 again, but if i do it will be a navara:001_smile:
  17. if you remember, the longer minature version was only painted chrome to keep the weight down, they wanted it gold originally but would of knocked it off balance when placed on its giroscope for the mars landing trial back in 78
  18. now now tommer, keep it clean and on thread please:sneaky2:
  19. i used to be a posty when i was younger, you have no idea of the knowledge a posty holds, even if there are 10 guys with the same name in one city, with no address on the envelope they will find it, middle names, type of package. its just nuts. try it for a laugh, we used to for postcards. my favourite was " to jock, bald farmer, likes a bevvy, largs" found him no bother:001_tt1:and that was from tenerife.
  20. as long as there are crazy customers, breakdowns and bad weather, i am sure the thread will be kept going, but it would be great if it didnt and everyone was ok, but thats just my ideal world mate:001_smile:
  21. sell it to developers for 60 flats mate, stuff your nieghbours:mad1: i hate it when others cant let you get on with your life, get yourself a big roofmount and drive up and down the road all day, that will cheer them up:001_cool:
  22. that just looks like your personal firewood pile to me bbb, your yard and house look immaculate mate, dont know much about the planning laws though sorry.
  23. after the stress thread i started yesterday, out of all the members that replied, did you feel it helped just having the chance to get it off your chest?
  24. i just need something to chip now. really impressed with the build quality, never seen a schiesling up close before.cheers tom
