  1. fassi wont cover log grapples in their warranty:confused1:
  2. well it makes sense to spend a bit more on a specialised machine then matt, you should take a run over and see jojam, he ran harvesters in the woods and will have a lot of contacts and experience. he is only an hour away from you too
  3. looks like its a big stick then, or trust the lad on the levers lol
  4. boob, lol. i asked for that john. the remote would certainly be the secret dave. i just dont know wether or not to spend that kind of money on that lorry yet, who are loyds of london??do you have any contacts for that kind of service??
  5. i have just recently bought a truck with a hiab on it, when i was in italy i saw trucks with a basket bolted onto the end of the hiab and the controls up there, i was told that in this country it is only legal for your own use. it was very simple, it just slid into the end of the boob, and the basket could just be level ou with pulling a lever to let the baslet hinge.. so any experts out there no the rules about this.
  6. i have a grab mate, i just need to get the right guy to do the work for me, the grab needs some work done to get it working 100% and the crane needs piped. but it is on the cards.
  7. i love those little skidders. mmmmmmmmm got me thinking now eders
  8. i have held off from buying the little loader for now, great machine but out of my budget just now, and the company is close to me if i ever need to hire one. so i bought this instead, once again it will save some sweating lol
  9. well done mate and all the guys for helping out, i take for granted tha fact that i can go and play with my boy up the woods and let him climb about. you should be VERY proud of yourself:thumbup1:
  10. my work changed so i wasnt using the mog very much, as i have explained before. i just do local work and try and keep as much stuff on site as possible, have a look at my self propelled woodchipper thread, you might find it quite educational:thumbup:
  11. going by the look of your gardens position you get a fair bit of wind, the spruce behind are pretty sparse to a higher point than you rowans are, you wont notice this on the little corsican/scotty as it is a hardier little guy facing into the wind. we have had a rough old time with the weather up here. it rained for over 40 days and we didnt get much of a breather through august then the wind really picked up for a week in september. they dont look the greatest of specimens tbh due to their location, from your point of view you want to save your trees, so you might be blinkered with the facts, i would plant some more trees around them and get some management into your garden. unfortunatley people hate to cut down their trees but also forget to plant so it is all or nothing if they loose them. ground works could be a factor, but trees are pretty tough, they may just of had their time, at least if you plant some more just now, if you do have to remove the others then it wont seem so hard for you. it is hard to tell from just a couple of pice though.
  12. how do you accidentally put a bullet in a gun, and then accidentally point it at someone, then accidentally pull the trigger?. 40K, wtf. that guy is going to be knacked for the rest of his life.
  13. qts's wee crawler is really good, it is a 100hp, so it runs a farmi 10inch chipper no bother and i have worked with it as a winch machine, it is a great machine, if you had a mog you could just tow it about, thats what they do..
  14. i want a boom truck, nice one shansen. great pics as usual mate
  15. a penguin took a house martin in front of us one day while we were out a walk. WOW, it came from know where, we just heard a swoosh and a thump, feathers everywhere, i love the way they stand with their talons on the prey and look about for other predators before tucking in..
  16. if we just put robd at the other end of the field this time, he was pretty noisy all day i thought:lol:
  17. good vid tom, when we were at the game fair, the guy on the tanoy told us to just drop our heads as fast as you can rather than try and keep your eye on it. it was awesome
  18. only in the way you wrote your little story, in my little story it works just fine. not every customer gets the same contract, if it is a scabby conifer, it gets chipped and left for the chiminea, someone has a huge pop behind a shed that takes 4 days to dismantle gets charged a fortune, someone has 3 prime firewood ash trees in a car park and they dont have a big budget then BINGO, jobs a good en. if the ash tree guy is in the pub spending his spare money on booze and offers to buy a friend a pint, but the friend says he cant afford to buy him one back because he has just had a huge poplar tree removed and it cost him thousands, and only has enough money for his own drink, then that is fine. if we worried about every possible eventuality that comes out of each job then we would end up worrying too much..:001_smile:and in my little story i never called any of your ideas rediculios, i am hypothetically speaking about all these scenarios. and if lets say i was having to wait 6 months to get a return on my free tree surgery firewood for sale business then all i would do is work out my 6 month of expenses, tie it into my business plan and borrow that amount to tide me over until the sales os seasoned firewood began, bu ti would of obviously sold most of my timber unseasoned at a discounted rate, the timber i took down for nothing would be seasoning inthe customers garden as this would be tied into the deal, saving me double haulage and storage.
