  4. Sorry to jump on this one, beechhunter,Rupe I do the same type of work, as in I contract myself to a small company but do my own work, and have been searching for ages to get a good deal on insurance, what about if you on your own (as self employed) carry out work privately what insurance (minimum) do you need as a rule of thumb as alot lot of the time you need to say what percentage of your time your are using machines or are off the ground, I;m not a climber just for example, thanks for advice on this one RH

  7. Any sugestion, please Ladies and Gentlemen i have an MS170 brought 2009, its had light to moderate use since new but now using it almost daily. since monday the chainbrake has become harder to apply. the saw is regularly maintained and inspected, when removing the small cover that houses the spring and cam for the chainbrake, there is slight wearing from the spring on the cam and the un coiled end of the spring itself is slightly miss shapen where it passes over the cam. is it normal for this saw to have this problem?:confused1: any advise please Rob

  15. I put fence in for someone with the old rare breed chickens, the area they was country side, Salisbury Plain, there was some digging done and turning back under ground with at least 3 foot of double wire at the base wire tied, took some time but they've had no probs yets return job in future, unlessone of the birds gets it
  16. groundie looking for some part time work in wolverhampton area, 30, 31, 38, stump. chipper and PA6 own ppe, felling kit and saw for next few months please PM if you have an opportunity for me Many thanks
  17. I used to cut those shapes in my younger days, may have dressed a tad different but its good to see quality never goes out of fashion..watched about 45 seconds
  18. The best thing I could say is have a look through your local yellow pages for tree firms drop them a line and your future intent, and try and get a "days look at life" with them, your not quald to use the machines or saws so it will be the donkey work. The day will be interesting and like you've said a steep learning curve. but It is imho worth while and enjoyable, good banter etc...Hopefully with the option of employment once qualified. Kingswood provide a very good service for resettlement, having done 13+ years Im not sure what help you'd get. All PPE is provided so you don't need any kit, but as has been already mentioned try and get some practise climbing in, and the throw bag. I wouldn't buy any kit or equipment until you know what you need. But all the best, it is hard times at the moment, but hopefully someone will give you a chance
  19. Thanks Khriss, I was reading a book in hospital and saw this one and liked it, its also what aspired me to go into the line of work
