  11. I saw ( forgive the pun) a programe about the olden day carpenters and woods men with the old long two-man saw and pit, awhile ago, it mentioned the wood chip dust as being most deadly….the reasoning behind this is that the dust will not be dissolved by the bodies defenses and so builds up in the lungs and becomes an aggressor within the body ---within time ............End_Ex _______________________________________________________________ The heights by great men reached and kept, were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards in the night Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)

  14. From a Newbee This is good news form someone who is about to get his first Husky. "Run It In" I can’t understand why anyone would rag something that they paid for, just to get the job done quicker…seems a waste of money to me _______________________________________________________________ The heights by great men reached and kept, were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards in the night Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)
  15. Thanks very much for the very helpfull replys,
  16. I would have to agree as some one starting in the life, paying for these courses out of my own pocket, that according to some of their schedules they do overlap (am I paying for training and assessment twice:thumbdown:) With a family in tow, what are my prospect.....the same as everyone else or worse?:scared1:
  17. I agree with both cleanhands & 88man, I may be a newbie to the Arb way of life but I have done endurance. I'm not into weights (gym) but like they both say a balanced diet is what you need, plenty of slow release with a hint of zing just to get you motivated, mixing food stuff for their release properties. snickers chocolate zing- peanuts fats, oils etc slow release. Just as a back up have either a protein shake, complan or a bit of what you fancy (as long as it's legal) variety is the spice of life.. if taking proteinyou need more water, dehydration makes your head hurt and bad tempered
  18. Im looking at a pair of "Haix Trekker Mountain chainsaw boot" has anyone got any feelings on this boot please
  19. Thanks very much Justin I got mine this morning. all the best

  22. Just starting out in the business would like to get some boots prior to my course, although they are provided. I would like to get a decent pair of boots. Ive looked at Hiax as they mention the entry level, could be selling propagander ..lol, but like Buzz Ive had Meindhl walking boots for years and like the brand. Any advice on boots please gratefully excepted. I think they'll need to be comfortable walking (draging) and running (fetching) as I'll be a goundie for abit...lol
  23. I didn't mean to stand on the soap box "Arb is a lifestyle not a fast buck". I spent a day ( a look at life in the day of a tree surgery firm, so to speak) with a firm from westbury earlier in the year, in Bath. One of the lads there called Charlie was living proof of that last statement.. more conformation that I had chosen the right job for me. (Many Thanks NickJC) Ive wanted to do this job for along time and have been gearing my present career towards this since 2000. I can't wait to start gaining experience
  24. Same here, there's me thinking that with all my hard earned money being spent on gaining these qualifications it would make me more employable. Being able to enter a chosen career to a recognised standard, so that my employers know that I am trained to a level of competetancy, when all I have to do is hopefully join a good team and learn on the job. It would save me some money but not sure who would take me on with no tickets who ever they're issued by........but what if I joined a bad team??
  25. Hi Tony I like the use of the rigging plate. does using that small bear paw wear into the bridge more than the smaller gold Ring S, attachment ring, being thinner rob
