  4. well thats the craziest wind iv'e ever climbed in brown stains lol packed in at eleven o'clock and retreated back to the yard for a day of sharpening old chains great:001_rolleyes: but better than wind and rain . checked the boss's weather station and the rain had dropped 32.9 mm in 4 hours roads are like rivers and at least 60-70 mph winds never get tired of watching folks bins doing cartwheels down the road.
  5. its a good paying job for a lot of hard work it takes a couple of weeks for the body to adjust, i planted trees in keilder forest, dumfries and galloway and right up to lairg in the highlands. well traveled we were mostly foresty commission tenders one thing you should get your self is a shoulder pad like the ones you get for car seat belts a mp3 player and dam good pair of water proof boots. good luck and have fun fresh air in the lungs and keeps you fit
  6. do you take an intrest in bats chap iv'e decided to join my local bat group since iv'e been doing alot of monolith work. was speecking to the ranger for nts at threave estate and he was saying they have 9 out of the 17 spiecies in the uk and two of the species are rare so perfect for roost visits and so on, been looking at a course the bct do designed for arborist basic stuff about bats and habitats, id,biology, recognition of habitat and flight paths and law looks like a very intresting course.

  16. im 69.8kg but was a lot bigger not even a year ago this line of work as done wonders for me never felt fitter:001_smile:
  17. i had to do a reduction cut much the same cut you have to use with wind blown trees can't remember the proper name but rembered the j cut. you cut down have the diameter of the log when you reach the bottom of then log push the nose of the bar up, then walk round to the other side tree then find the cut bring the cut up half the diameter of the log. then figure out the tension compression then cut either in board or out board this stops your bar getting pinched. or what steve say'd use a bore cut if log flat on the deck hope this makes sense
