  1. Depending where you are, you're very welcome to come in & try both of them if you're up our way?
  2. You'd pick up an old Golf or Polo for that sort of money - both should be pretty safe bets in terms of reliability, they go on forever. Or, I had an old L reg Cavalier a few years ago when I was a student that I bought for £300. The only thing that went wrong in over 30,000 miles (it had something like 120,000 on it when I bought it and I sold it with 150,000 and still running perfectly) was it needed a new plastic casing for the indicator bulb where it got clipped in a car park. The only snag 'might' be the insurance, but it's well worth a look.
  3. Quick update on this - if there's anything in particular that you want to try out at the show, please let either Blair or myself know in advance and we'll make sure it's there on the day. Our stand is in a good location next to a decent tree so we can probably get something hooked up to demo kit if anyone's interested? (I'm not sure what the health & safety situation is on this yet so I'll check & come back on this for definate as soon as I can!)
  4. We've got Rico out there all week, mainly focusing on the big ugly Harvester stuff like Indexator & Cranab, but Doug's also heading out there later in the week too. Apparently it's absolutely scorching hot over there too at the moment!
  5. Dougie Irvine's email address if anyone's needing further info on this show is: [email protected] Cheers James
  6. I think Dougie Irvine at the Barony was looking at workshops etc, best to drop him a quick email about any competitions etc...
  7. The Barony are still working on it - the full details should be on that website I posted earlier shortly... I'll let you know of any updates as soon as we get wind of it!
  8. Ummm... I'm not sure if I can name him or we might have to pay him royalties!!
  9. Locaton c/o Google Maps: <http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=barony+college&sll=55.308828,-3.147583&sspn=1.080185,3.570557&ie=UTF8&z=9&iwloc=A>
  10. We've been asked by the Barony College to post the details of this forthcoming Forestry & Arb show, to be held at the Barony College on the 20th June 2009. It's being billed as a sort of 'Mini APF Show' and this is it's first year, so a good turnout would be great! Website: Scottish Forestry & Arborcultural Show Wm Clark & Son will be there with a stand, and we're planning to bring along a load of Arb & Chainsaw kit to demo (there's plenty of trees at the Barony and you'll be welcome to give the kit a proper testing out!). If you're interested in coming and there's anything in particular that you'd like to see/try please let me know and I'll make sure it's brought to the show. Hopefully see some of you there - it'd be good to put a a few names to faces! Cheers James
  11. I've got a couple - SV650S for playing on and lobbing round corners, and an old man's Pan European, bought specifically for touring round Europe next month. Track Day's are great fun - only done one, up at Knockhill last summer but thoroughly enjoyed it and came back much more confident on the bike.
  12. Yeah, I saw that article too. Interesting read.
  13. Haix have brought out a new boot - Protector Light, and they're seriously lightweight - we've sent a couple of pairs out to local climbers to be tested, but the first impressions are good! Haix Protector Light Chainsaw Boots They're not 100% waterproof though, but as someone else mentioned a pair of SealSkinz would soon sort that out.
  14. Hi Folks, not wanting to de-rail this thread, but we're still in talks with the ISA & Barony with regards to hosting the Scottish Tree Climbing Championships here in Dumfries & Galloway. Things have been a wee bit quiet on this front as there's still a lot of decision making to be done, but thought it might be worth a mention? Dates & Venue (assuming of course that it does happen!) will be announced as soon as they're confirmed! Cheers James Wm Clark & Son Parkgate Dumfries
