  1. Is the benefit of doing this so when you climb up to your anchor point it doesn't give any slack so to speak? I usually just base anchor but when getting near my point the rope can feed over the branch towards the base?? Hope that makes sense cheers guys
  2. I tend to unclip saw and tie it inboard of the cut (very important not the other way round) on bigger timber but as long as you do inboard step cut seems to be ok then
  3. If i hadn't just bought the 076 then i would too as its about 20minutes down the road from me but good luck which ever way and sorry to hear about the theft
  4. Tried the rinsing the water in the glass thing and is really good. Im currently going through some whyte and mackay 13yr old that got given as a tip on a tree job. Also tried talisker which is quite nice, im in training to learn to appreciate it. Did the same with olives and now i quite like them
  5. 090 spares or repair on the bay there lakeyboy might go for strong dollar i reckon stihl 090 | eBay
  6. Cheers for the advice, it was going to be a relaxed type race just to see how it compares but understand what your saying
  7. Update on the 076 and its great news so far. Managed to retrive the stupid plastic piston stop by removing the exhaust which was interesting and placed an old piece of prussik cord to stop the piston and swapped the sprocket. Pull cord needed attention as the catch was not quite engaging to pull it over. Just need to make a chain and she is ready to rumble. gonna put a 30" bar and a friend has challenged me to race with his 395xp with a 36" bar so should be fun. So thanks to your help guys intersting as ever and will always keep me eyes on the thread
  8. Ah im less bummed out now after your response and a little google says the same thing, will tackle it tomorrow, thanks again guys really useful stuff
  9. exhaust looks like a pain and got to take the handle and orange top cover bit off to get access to the manifold bolts. you ever had to remove the exhaust on you 076 lakeyboy?
  10. Thanks for the message rich and i was turning it the correct way, now back to the kitchen floor to see what i can do
  11. Right so the missus has gone out so thought i would take over the kitchen floor (dont have a bench yet). tried to get the clutch off the 076 by finding compression attaching a combi spanner and hitting with a mallet hmmmm didnt work so well as probably not been off for a while, next i tried to stop the piston with an old peice of prussik cord (dont like the plastic ones.....cough cough) which didnt seem to work to well either, so finally i tried a crap stihl plastic turd, sorry i mean piston stop ah this feels better.......snap. so i now have a piece of piston stop in the cylinder and cant shake it out so next stop i was thinking of removing the exhaust. i have taken the cover off and can see one major screw and thats about it but thought would come on here for some advice before i carry on and make more mess before the future wife gets home. thanks for the reading my long ass post
  12. Thanks for a quick response i will get calling tomorrow
  13. Not done any street tree contract climbing then stevie? its difficult stuff with poor prices and pressures to get stuff done. In that situation groundie could have been paying more attention on traffic to stop them and once stopped allowed climber to cut but like i said short cuts happen on these types of jobs
  14. so got my 076 and sprockets is naffed, not sure if its .404 or 3/8 but any ideas of part number of where to get them from. cheers fellas
  15. ooh the posh push buttons, they are expensive add on but seem good from what i have seen. nice one
  16. With it turned off and chain brake off drop the nose of the bar onto an old tyre as this should activate it and will cause less potential damage than if dropped on a piece of wood
  17. Nice, i see an 070 on ebay for nearly £900 last week and i didnt want to curse it but have an 076 coming in the post whoop, will post pictures in the vintage saws thread
  18. If anyone swings by my fridge then grab a beer cheers

  21. Your providing a service and unless people know your opening hours then you cant complain, maybe redirect your calls to another log delivery company during your out of hours times and that will sort out the awkward ones
  22. i think its on a 2am in the morning if you have sky+
  23. Not saying they arent pros but i think landscapers are the market to get into also wildlife trusts and the sort when machinery is not used day in day out and so knowledge and or time may be an issue to sort problems out
