  2. First day using the zig zag like how compact it is but can't get my 13mm rope through it and it doesn't self tend, really want to try the spider jack now nowt wrong with the zig zag just niggled me a bit
  3. Another battlefield gamer here saving up for the xbox one thinking I might get the titanfall bundle but will be getting battlefield 4 as well it's cracking game online
  4. I'm trying to find the daily 4x4 found good write up but I'd like to know how long they've been out and second hand prices, any help?
  5. Treehog harness is an ok harness but have found in certain positions it is dam uncomfortable I was hoping the bigger leg supports would be more comfortable sitting all weight in the harness no problem but you are right soon as ya stand it rides right up, I've also found that ya heat up in it considerably, if the leg loops were normal shape it'd be a cracking harness it's very hard wearing. As for the trusty weavers that thing is indestructible mine didn't last 10 but I was a nuisance for lowering of the side ds (naughty me)
  6. Forgot to mention you can also get a water heater with these that attach to the chimney, has a wee tap on it handy bit of kit
  7. And can get a flashing kit so it can be used in a tent
  8. Anyone spot the Bermuda job on arb jobs if ya get it start a thread up let's see some pics and let us all know how ya get on. Good luck to who ever gets it!!
  9. So far all I'm hearing is good stuff, I'm just waiting and seeing, the 201 is ok but certainly has it's bad points (rev pick up and a little gutless)
  10. Had the husqy model before this latest 1, was fine for first few months then the problems started so until I hear that it's good after 2 years use, il stick.
  11. Nowt wrong with the 201, well yet husqys fine for first 6 months to a year then the problems start. But would say bring back the 200t best climbing saw ever ran mine into the ground to get it going again needs rebuilding.
  12. Not a bad spike at all, had the old steel bashlins myself but there bit knackered now. Needed a new spike with that I could change the spikes (longer or new spikes) I've found them comfortable, they come with 2 sets of spikes long and short the long don't really need for this country unless you've got a thick ivy tree. Used them all day I've found them more comfortable than the bashlins, now it's all about the long game my bashlins lasted 8 years.
  13. Got echos biggest saw had it few years now and it's been through the ringer and still going strong though could do with a new chain brake
  14. When felling out the top either clear drop or on a rig stamp 1 spike in good and hard. When ya put the back cut be ready to lean into ya harness and push away from the tree with ya hands then it's all about the fun
  15. Just been given a new set of spikes by tree hog/arbortec got an apology and the rep Garth came out of his to come say hi and have a quick chat about the spikes, (that's what I call awesome customer service!) I gave them a dam good pull about and no probs be giving them a dam good test soon so standby for good ol review.
  16. Star Wars is awesome and for the game console owners amongst us look up the new Star Wars battlefront.
  17. I got it all sorted yesterday, I just wanted to let people know what happened if someone got hurt using them and I hadn't said anything I'd feel guilty for having done nothing.
  18. I got them because the spikes are changeable that and the bashs are getting a bit on now sort of being held together by cable ties, the tree hogs were comfy but I don't expect a new pair of gaffs main components to fail first job that ain't on
  19. I took them straight back, I watched as he had a play the pop rivets come apart with ease, that much ease not only was he shocked he took a pair out the shop off the shelf and they were just as bad can't tell me that's a flaw with 2 pairs and rivets shouldn't come apart that easy by hand my old bashlins have had it real hard over the years and no rivets ever went.
  20. Don't if anyone has these, picked mine up yesterday found them comfortable spikes maybe a little longer than I'm used to, BUT and this is a BIG but, the straps are held together by rivets if you own a pair BEWARE the rivets come apart very very easily. This is my opinion but DO NOT USE THESE SPIKES!!!!! There is a design flaw
  21. Thinking of making a tree stump/root coffee table for the mrs for Christmas and was hoping for advice on tree species and best way of doing it. Cheers guys
  22. I'd like to have one but I'll stick with the flying capstan, when they're a bit more affordable I might switch.
  23. Brought a main road to a stand still felling top 30 odd feet of off poplars felling down the side of road. 1 I lowered got a bit greedy 30 odd feet had to bar cut it to finish the gob and had time to realise it was gona whip when I looked over the top to watch it fall pushed back on the tree to prep for it to hit the block dam thing whipped back and forth a good 10 feet with me on spikes above my main anchor cracking good fun
  24. Recently started into hand cutting myself this year really enjoy it, run a team of 3 myself as well the lads are young and hungry for work just keeping an eye on them until they get the experience to get there speed up. Still getting my head round the tonnage rate reckon were around the 8 to 12 mark but by Christ we graft for it, we fell, stack the brash, and stack the wood that we can track side and roll the bigger stuff. The biggest surprise the estates have had with my crew is we camp on site cooking either small open fire or wood stove. Wouldn't change it for the world can't beat the sound of a biggun coming down.
  25. Not quite sure on the law but tendering for a job for a company I believe you must have PL in place, did 1 job last year where the company asked that all workers on site must have there own (all the lads I was using were self employed) bit of a ball ache but I did as requested
