  1. Been lovely and hot all day but its now rumbling away over here in Dumfries. Jay
  2. Thanks guys! I appreciate the response. Don't know why the pictures came out the wrong way up Jay
  3. Hello, Looking to get a bit of help on the identification of this fungi. I have seen it on a few trees recently (all of which Beech). Hopefully there is pictures attached. There is the dark bracket which appears in multiples around the main stem, within the first 4 metres (as far down as ground level) and also this white mass which is brown when dissected. None of the beech are in good condition and a few have thrown large stems. I thought it was some form of Ganoderma but would appreciate some more experienced eyes opinions. Cheers, Jay
  4. Going from working full time work to full time education in the space of a few months my fitness dropped dramatically.. Started climbing at college now and it's safe to say im struggling, technique has gone off too!
  5. Hey everone! I was looking for a new tree ID app as the free one I have is very limited. It doesn't have any bud/stem photos just a long distance picture of the tree which isn't much use at all. Anyone recommend a good app? Obviously it will be a paid app but it would save me downloading half a dozen. Would be downloading it onto an Android Jay
  6. Hmm that's strange, technical assistant at my work applied to SEPA about its use for the specific site and they approved it
  7. Been using them the last few days on willow stumps alongside a footbridge to allow access for structural testing. SEPA approved for them to be used, some of the stumps within a metre of a small burn. Easy to apply hopefully get to see some results within the next year. Jay
  8. Used my stein tshirt for the first time last week, really nice and light.. only problem was it showed up my winter belly which hasn't quite disapeared yet. Jay
  9. I've got a 3/8 sprocket on mine, run a 15" and a 20" depending on the job throws them both round with no effort. Great setup IMO Jay
  10. A bit of both really... Shop online for most climbing supplies (wider selection available) and the occasional item not normally stocked locally. Shop locally for everything else.. why? Great customer service, Helpful advice (not just about making a sale), Try before you buy, No postage charges and probably the most important.. get to hear all the gossip Jay
  11. Think the 560 is small mount and the 372 is large Jay
  12. My thoughts exactly! Just m lazy side coming out though Jay
  13. Put a 3/8ths on simply for when it comes to the 20" bar still throws it round! I'm sure the .325 would run faster but haven't had any concerns with my current setup
  14. I run a 3/8ths as well, got it in a 15" and a 20" bar highly versatile! Goes through like a hot knife and the heated handles are a nice wee extra comfort. Would recommend!
  15. I did the exact same the other day. Used to the inboard clutch on my stihl live and you learn
  16. Currently snowed in up here! 3ft drifts outside my drive just had to dig the Grand Vitara out Jay
  17. I'm pretty much in the same position as you. I had my National Certificate in Forestry and a couple years work experience, in the end decided to apply Fdsc Arboriculture at Myerscough (Fingers crossed) Jay
  18. A couple snares around the outside of the pen. As long as you check them regularly (within 24hours) and humane dispatch Charlie you'll have very happy chickens
  19. On my second pair of Husqvarna Technical 24 boots which I quite like! Had a pair of Aquafell Xperts before but they didn't seem to be as hardwearing IMO Jay
  20. Glad to hear some feedback, was thinking about getting a pair once my current pair of hi-flex wear out
  21. I just bought a 560xpg! and must say I'm pretty impressed! Replaced the standard sprocket with a 3/8 and run a 15" and 20". Bit too heavy for up the tree but perfect all rounder ground saw. First time I've used a saw with heated handles as well and is a godsend for the Scottish weather Jay
  22. D'Oh! Guess i should have had a look about first! Cheers Sloth I'll give it a look Jay
  23. We always get it bad in February up here! Normally a foot of snow at least once a year
  24. Hi Guys, Haven't done a lot of fungi ID, a bit of field mushrooms etc but not a lot tree wise. Just wondering if there was any books out there you could recommend? In the process of applying to Myerscough to do my Fdsc so hoping to get ahead before/if I start. Cheers, Jay
