  1. Well last wednesday i started to feel a bit sick whilst sitting in the car, this very quickly turned to a searing pain in the back of my head, so got home and took myself off to bed. As the hours past i could barely move and the pain was starting to move down the left of my body, started taking some painkillers which had no effect. On the thursday my misses insisted i went to the doctors and after being examined was told to go straight to casualty!!! When i got there it was rammed full of people but i was taken straight through for a brain scan, then carted off to the emergency care unit and given a lumber puncture too. all the results came back clear and i had alot of doctors standing around scratching their heads..........the best plan they could come up with was to keep me in over easter and watch me!!!! Now i'm not one for doctors and hospitals so managed to persuade them to let me home with the promise of going back in if it got worse, so i've spent the whole easter in bed drugged up on painkillers from the hospital.........the head pain comes and goes now, but my back is still sore from having a needle stuffed in my spine and to top things off i've got my CS39 on wednesday!!!!
  2. We were taught it, but not assessed on it but had to give a verbal explanation.
  3. Not that i know of mate, the climbing stuff was all working ok and nothing had snapped in the tree, so i can only assume it was down to his not doing something right while changing over lines, but with him not remembering either what happened i guess nothing will ever come of it as a resolution.
  4. OUCH!!!!!!!! I must admit that the week following this lads fall, i didnt think of much else, the sound as he hit the deck was constantly ringing in my ears!!!!! But it has probably taught me a lesson that no amount of horror stories would have done..........the next climb i did was a bit more check, check and check again type thing, instead of just taking it for granted that the crabs have snapped back and double checking anchor points, people are talking at college whether they'll now stop people getting timed on touch tapes??? I think its a bit naff really, cos if that's the case, say someone has an accident with a chainsaw, do they then say we're not allowed to use them either????
  5. He's not on here james, hopefully if he has no memory of it, he'll have nothing sitting in the back of his mind to put him off climbing in the future........although i dont see how blame can be layed at anyones feet at the college, i'd like to think that whoever is responsible for health and safety would be on the ball!!! Atree he fell about 20ft out a tree and landed on his arse/back!!!!!
  6. He says he doesn't remember anything about it, before or after the fall, the college are still waiting for the health and safety people to come in and investigate it!!!!! Would've thought they'd be in straight away???
  7. Well the lad is now out of hospital, but he's gonna be in a wheelchair for the next 6 months and then physio to help him walk again!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Cause it had a 64in bar on it!!!!!!
  9. Had a play with an 880 today, bit of a beast to say the least although i wouldn't fancy a whole day lugging one about!!!!!!
  10. Whats the course like on the whole though, do you get your assessment at the end of the week??
  11. No more than £30 quid for me on trainers, and i'll wear them till they drop off me feet, dont understand people who pay stupid prices for them and have about 10 pairs!!!!! But i have a pair of meindl burma pros for shooting and the like, muckboots for the same(which are the best welllies i've ever had) and stihl boots for work, but i dont like them as they are too heavy and kill your feet after wearing them all day!!!! My lass is always on at me to buy new clothes, but the same thing applies there too, i dont want brand names and stupid prices, i'd rather spend the money on something i'm gonna get some use out of, i dont think a Gap/Bench or whatever t-shirt is any warmer than a £5 jobby is it????
  12. Its still not much use is it...........i think it will give them a big 'get out' clause if they didnt want to pay out!!!!!!!
  13. Thats a bit disappointing, was gonna get a quote off them, but i want any height on my policy.......
  14. Why, do you wanna watch.......................
  15. Its spot on Steve, i go on another forum, nothing to do with trees, on there its just constant bickering and slagging people off and its meant to be a place where like here evryone has something in common, but you'd never know it............ Arbtalk group hugs all round mate............
  16. Well i'd just like to show a bit of Arbtalk appreciation................ i've not been a member here that long, but in the time i've been here i must say it's a cracking site, always people on hand to give advice and the benefit of their wisdom and experience and so far i dont think i can recall a time where anyone has been rude or insulting, the advice given is done in a nice constructive manner................so i'd just like to say a big thanks to all the people so far that have helped me out with questions and PMs and to the folk i've met that have put some work my way, a big thankyou, its what these places should be about.............:001_smile:
  17. Rod what way do you hook the springs up differently and does it stay clear of the visor throughout the up and down motion??? I just got one yesterday from gustharts with a smoked visor and the mesh guard, with upgraded ear muffs for £97
  18. Apart from the crack and cavity, the actual tree doesn't look too bad, couldnt say about foliage mate as i've not seen it yet in that state. I'll have a look through and see if i can find any pics of the tree.
  19. Couldn't get my hand in to touch it or smell it, had to press my phone up to the gap in the stem to get the pick, there seemed to be a few patches of it and the stem looks well decayed inside, but the tree on the whole doesn't look too bad.........compared to some of the others!!!
  20. This was inside a cavity on the main stem of a lime tree, any offers as to what it is???
  21. I'm hoping to get a date for mine next week too, the college rang me today and offered me a date, but for CS38...............
  22. I missed extreme loggers tonight........thank god for series link!!!!!!
