  1. Alright mate, what do you mean, is that in addition to the forms they sent out to me???
  2. Just doing the forms now and drawing the map out.....which is interesting as i'm no artist!!!! Its a woman who's the tree officer apparently for that area, they didnt seem to know what i was asking the first time!!!
  3. I dont think it'll be done for a while, by the time they either agree or say no, then they are away on holiday, and then getting it done, will prob be into the summer.
  4. lol........will that wound cause any problems at a later date??? They are in a conservation area so have TPOs on, the guy at the property said the previous house owners had to ask 3 times before they were granted permission to touch them......... the guy who lives there now wants the limbs that are over the roof of his house gone, and if possible a bit of reduction to let more light in. The first person i spoke to said on the phone that it would be turned down, but when i rang back they sent out the forms to fill in. Is there anything or anyway to tip the odds in our favour, or if they say no is that the end of it???
  5. Can you lot help me out again with an I.D on these 2 trees, i didnt really pay attention to them when i looked at them and i cant get it from the pictures, also in the last one, are there any risks of that causing problems at a later date???? cheers
  6. yeah that'll do fine mate if i can copy and paste it onto a document cheers.....
  7. I'm after a picture of a chainsaw which has the safety features pointed out on for an assignment.......when ive put in a google image search i get loads of texas chainsaw massacre crap........... i need something that can be copied and pasted though??? cheers
  8. I think that size in the picture will do mate, i'll see you about it soon.
  9. Gotta wait and see what comes back on the TPO, he said the woman who lived there before had some work done a year ago, which you can see, but apparently they were really reluctant to do it and she had to apply 3 times before they granted any work to be done!!! I'll get in touch with the tree officer and see whats what.........i'll be seeing one of my mates tomorrow, i'll see about him dropping his logs and chip off for you. How much do you want for one of those log burners??
  10. Looks good that, i might have one of them if you're gonna pass a few on???
  11. It's a hard one not to comment on really...... the banks have to take a huge portion of responsibilty for the mess they've got themselves into, when you hear some of the lending they've done, like billions of pounds to foreign companies and then got burnt!!! Its ridiculous that we have to pay for those mistakes....... was it not worked out at £30000 per person extra taxes, that we have to pay for it???...... the government aint stupid (on all counts at least) they'll be benefiting from the bail out, or they wouldn't do it. Imagine if Barclays went into crisis and the government said tough ****, you'll have to fold, what happens to all the money people owe them, loans, overdrafts, mortgages...etc etc??? By the government stepping in is just the same principal as bad debts being sold on for less, then the new company adding their cut on top of it and so it goes on.......the government is just looking at the bigger picture, they'll have a contract with the people they're bailing out so it creates them revenue, if they weren't going to make money out of it, it'd be a no show for all the banks.......... One example of how much they can see they'll make is clear from their statement to the banks.......'tell us now how much trouble you're in and we'll bail you out'.......... not an exact quote, but along the general lines!!!! As said already, they need to start lending again to get us out the ****, but they need to do alot more before they do that!!!!
  12. yeah cheers, i wouldn't take anyones word on anything let alone a TPO and the risk of huge fines, i was told i'd have to wait between 6-8 weeks to get clarification on TPOs, is this right and if it is are there any quicker ways i can research myself??? I've had a couple of people who have had trees on their property ask me to quote them, when i've told them i need to check the status of the tree, they seem to do an about turn and not want it done anymore...... then a week later its down anyway!!!!!
  13. Do you all check TPO status on every tree you work on, or are there guidelines or ways you can tell if they wont have one for definate??? At college we were told that if it could be seen by the public, then it'd be worth checking, is that right??
  14. Does anyone know what causes chain creep? Is it something to do with the clutch?
  15. Does anybody know where best to look on the internet for diagrams that show correct pruning cuts to paste into an assignment?? The ones i seem to be finding at the minute wont allow me to copy and paste them!!! Also a diagram that shows the 4 walls of compartmentalisation would be a result too.........cheers
  16. Obviously the wire core flip lines are better for spiking with a bit of rigidity, but do you use them as a grillon too or do you find they can be a bit stiff when up a tree and using them for change overs etc???
  17. whats this all about, a few of the lads from my colege would be interested in having a crack at a climbing comp thats not full of pros!!!!
  18. I've been looking into industrial units to let for storing equipment and the like, but locally, even units that aren't, what i'd call, top end are mega expensive i think....... some of them are £30000 a year!!!!! How do you go about finding yards or space to work from??? Cheers
  19. I'm looking to find a load of hazel in the newcastle/northumberland area, need it to make poles for a longnet, so thumb width size is roughly what i need????
  20. I bet his arse twitched!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I'm probably a long way off needing to buy one, how does the lease thing work???
