  1. Perils of running an older truck. My wife goes nuts when I get a £1k bill, but the alternative is a new one at £1k/month.
  2. I’ve dealt with VFS several times and they’ve been spot on, even when there’s been nothing in it for them. These local lads are great to deal with and all my farming mates use them. I think if a new kit was easier/better/quicker they would have steered me there. As Mick said, I want to get it earning asap. Luckily I have a couple of small jobs where handballing/shovelling will only add a few minutes, and a 3-dayer next week with loader and chipper where everything is staying on site. Hopefully done and dusted by next Friday afternoon (motor should be with me next Monday).
  3. £652 delivered for motor only. Fitting and oil on top, which will add a couple of hundred. It’s a kick in the nuts, especially if it turns out a cheapo Flowfit kit will do the same job.
  4. Thanks. I have no idea what sort of pressure the old unit produced. It tipped 2 tonnes plus without question though (on private land, obvs). Some new tippers I’ve worked with seem very weak.
  5. Looking at that vid though, I’m surprised the hydraulic boys near me didn’t suggest that, it looks straightforward enough. I’m not bothered about tipping speed really, just power.
  6. I asked about fitting a new kit and he said it would be a right ****************-on with the electrics to the cab, and would end up costing more. I won’t have much choice next time, I think I managed to buy the last old school OMFB motor they had. It’s 2000W as well, I don’t know if the cheaper kits would be man enough. I’m gutted about the price, like. £772 when we started talking.
  7. £652 just for the bloody motor! And that’s with VFS kindly doing me a deal.
  8. Update. The diagnosis is the hydraulic motor has packed up. Plenty of juice getting there, but it’s dead. Also tested with power pack, nothing. Today’s job is sourcing a new one, just left a message for VFS who supplied the original. Do you think it’s still under warranty? It’s only done 18 years work.
  9. It is definitely job dependent, but I normally use a base tie to ascend then switch to a canopy anchor. You can make that retrievable from the ground if you like. Can’t comment on the 2-rope system I’m afraid!
  10. I would plunge it into my own neck to test it.
  11. Schoolboy on 3. Wordle 1,230 4/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨⬜🟨🟨 ⬜🟨🟩🟨🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  12. Labour are in now. It will probably be based on colour.
  13. Duck Oil for me. I used to use graphite powder, but I think I used to overdo it and it went sludgy.
  14. We forgive you Diane Abbott!

  16. No word yet. Still stuck I reckon.
  17. Thanks. I haven’t got a pressure gauge. I cut trees down for a living.
  18. Joking. As Dan says, just be honest. Pretty sure they’ll check if you make a claim. Cameron at Trust is the man to talk to. He understood my needs as pretty much a one man band who uses freelancers. We had a few differences of opinion, but he sorted them. Worth calling him direct Bill. He seemed to understand that most of my jobs weren’t crane dismantles over Ferrari garages.
  19. I just said ‘Yes’ to everything and got a great deal!
