  1. Quick update. Had it all to bits again and it turned out the problem was the contact plate on the switch not making a good enough contact with the crimps on the end of the leads. I pulled them out and reseated them so they were a bit more β€˜proud’, and screwed the whole assembly back together tighter than I normally would. Christ they get hot! Too hot for bare hands. Thanks for your input fellas, I understand the system a lot better now.

  4. I’d be more worried about getting the TM sorted on an A-road in that timescale!

  6. Should be ok for standard steel shot mate, it’s proofed for 3” mags. Not for high performance steel though.

  9. It’s crazy isn’t it? Possibly the most important thing in the tree game and no one wants to pay properly for it.
  10. Thanks Kram. I’ll have to learn how the system actually works. I’m not sure where the element is tbh! Good excuse to buy a new multimeter as well, my old one packed in ages ago and I never replaced it. They are bloody cheap now! Probably cheaper than I paid 20 years ago.
  11. As per title. I’ve had everything to bits, cleaned and blown everything and fiddled around to try and make sure the contact plate on the switch is working, but no joy yet. What can I do next?
  12. I contacted Stihl years ago about this and they assured me there was no demand for it.

  14. Oh it probably hasn’t helped mate, for sure.
  15. I β€˜lost’ my fingers this morning on a simple, short connie job in the sleet. It’s a total bastard. The best gloves I’ve found that you can climb in are Pfanner ice grips. Those teabag style warmers are good, but getting pricey now. I’ve got a pair of rechargeable rock type things from Amazon that are worth a look. Saved my arse today. My Raynauds definitely isn’t work related. My fingers used to turn bone white on rugby pitches in Northumberland winters when I was about 8. Base layers with thumb holes help more than you’d think.
  16. Geniuses. Wordle 1,616 6/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟩⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟩⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  17. Honeys and Gustharts are excellent, but I use Skyland whenever possible. Great visibility of stock levels, and very often next day delivery. I ordered 2 pairs of Pfanner ice grip gloves this afternoon after having cold hands this morning, and they will be here 9.30-12.30 tomorrow.
  18. Obviously, you need to start with a large one.
  19. You can make a small fortune owning a woodland.

  21. Rock Machinery Venom C-Series 15 tonne. Β£1375 all in. I got mine last week and have been very impressed. The 22 and 30 versions would be even better, but I was tight on storage space.
  22. Rob to the rescue again! The man’s knowledge of bar/chain/sprocket combos is unmatched. He has come a long way from the fresh-faced youth I met at an arb show a couple of decades ago! Hope you’re well mate!
  23. At about 2pm more than life itself.
  24. And the beer fridge.
