  1. This is a good day to ask this question as its been raining solid for days here. I think from experience it doesn't tend to do it too much harm but...... Time for a bit of science. I have taken a bit of seasoned connifer weighing 1kilo dry and placed it outside in the rain today at 4pm. It is a sawn piece, rather than split and has been placed sawn side up. The question seems to be, will it soak up water to the extent that it again holds water in its cells so to speak, all the way through, or will it once dried out not do this again. The rain outside is the big lumpy wet type so I will weigh it again periodically. This is what it looks like after 15 minutes, just a bit of water absorbed into the first couple of milimetres. Edit; others posted while I was preparing this post, I agree with them but fancied doing this little experiment
  2. Ha Ha I'll second that, warm as toast now with the burner but cold in the mornings. I'm on my third set of carpet tiles and into my 7th or 8th winter now. I've had ice like this but in horizontal lines down the side before now, but in a cosy sheltered park up at the moment. 25ft will be fine JD, mines 12ft and wise move to wait for spring mate...
  3. Hi Quickthorn. nice to have such an old and hallowed member as yourself in me thread. Its a whole new world innit, the macro on these wee beasties. And interesting that the LX3 has the same abbilities as my beloved LX5. I love the hibernating ladybird, if thats what its doing, so nice shot too:thumbup1: While I'm here I haven't forgotten the 10 quid fine for my faus pas in the other thread, I got away lightly, and appreciated the efforts of Andy, Laurie, Mick and some others to knock my pounding on the head and lesten my pain. Cheers boys it was appreciated. Also rbtree, thanks for posting and loving your work too And finally here's a pick while I'm here:001_smile: Orca my Spanish cat on a winter walk round the garden

    Boredom Tax?

Sorry folks. I vented a bit after a glass of wine or two. I am not going to defend my earlier statement, as even If I sometimes think it, this is not a mature way to go about it. Don't want to wriggle out of it either, guilty as charged:blushing:
