  3. the land owner must have 6 months storage facility which must be on concrete with drainage to an effluent tank, if it is dumped in a field it must be used within a certain time scale which i think is 2 - 3 weeks
  4. saws not old really, prob a year or 2 but had very very little work. saw is going back to the lad i was gonna buy it off, too much hasle
  5. sorry to hear that richard, will keep my ear to the ground n see if i hear of any saws etc being sold cheap
  6. every possibility jamie, stripped it back down today, checked the feul line and the breather pipe also cleaned out the tank and the carb again, set it back to factory settings and it fires up and runs but wont idle for any length of time. the breather filter seems to be a bit clogged but then again are they supposed to be free flowing ????
  7. if the pipe is blocked wats the easiest way to clear it without an airline ?
  8. ive not opened the feul tank yet but i will, the breather filter seems ok but ive not checked the pipe yet
  9. started off it needed a new diaphragm kit so i put that in but it wasnt right so i put a new feul filter in it, still wasnt right so i was told to strip the carb n clean it out with an airline which i did and got it running then whilst using it in the woods to do some brashing it started to rev quite high whilst in use then spluttered a bit n konked out, now it wont idle and is a pain to start. i have checked both the inlet and outlet or scoring of the piston and its fine but it wont run for any length of time now. anyone got any ideas ????

  12. i nearly failed my 31 last year whilst at college, was really nervous n just made an arse of the first 2 trees. the assessor had seen me fell before tho and knew i could do it so he sent me back to the van for 10 mins to calm down then i came back up and felled perfectly. if it hadnt been that doug is a good guy i would also have failed. but like the rest say, you will get it next time. take your time and remember, it doesnt matter how long it takes you as far as the assessor is concerned, all he cares about is that you do it safely and do it the rite way.

  17. hi, im moving to carlisle area shortly and im gonna be looking for work, eather part time or full time. my qualifications are as follows NC Forestry ND Arboriculture CS30/31 CS38/39 pending, please ask if you need more information i also have a full clean driving license which i have held for 5 years. I am 24 years old and i will have accomodation in the weatheral/cumwhinton area. I have worked for two arborists, one in dumfries and another in aberdeenshire. the man in dumfries i worked for was Richard Gauld, i worked for him whilst at college so it was every weekend i could get out and every holiday i had off. When i left college i moved to Aberdeenshire to work for J J davidson but unfortunatly it didnt work out. the reason i am leaving where i am is because i want to be closer to my family and in perticuler my 2 year old son. i dont have much experience so im looking for an aprenticeship type job where i can learn as we go and be taught new skills. any work weather it be forestry or arb i will most definatly consider and hopefully get some work Cheers Allan
  18. i use a whitley sharpening stone, its about 3 inches long by about an inch wide, it sharpens like nothing ive ever used and is fast too. works different tho, whilst sharpening you basicly try to take a controlled slice off the stone which i found odd but it works. this stone cost me about 2 quid Field Sports' Products
  19. ne arb were looking for folk round about dumfries, if you go on arbjobs.com you should see there add

  22. sounds like phytopthora, nick named sudden oak death, will have rhizomorphs and honey fungus in there aswell. looked at a beech tree with these symptoms, not over yet but it wont be long before it is
  23. is it ok to prune these at this time of year ? i have a wee job to do today, slight lift and heavy thin of a beech and a goat willow that is intertwined, gonna take most likely every third small limb and any dead wood but is the goat willow in perticuler suseptable to any disease at this time of year like a cherry is suseptable to silver leaf at certain times f year ? cheers Allan
