  1. Used to work for a firm in Brisbane,http://www.arboroperations.com.au/. Was self employed, made a packet, came home with more money than i arrived with(did spend 4 weeks in Thailand and 3 weeks in Greece before getting there mind you, makes you thirsty all that traveling )Hard work in the Sub-Tropical heat, but what does'nt kill you makes you stronger eh?Or some other kak like that. Were a good bunch when i was there in 2000
  2. How many cases of self defense have you read or heard of where the defendant got away clean, scot free.No comeback from the family of the accused? No windows being smashed, victims family targeted? I think in an ideal world maybe? But i have my opinion cobber and i'm sticking to it
  3. Unfortunatly for us in the UK mate,we would be hauled up in front of the judge pronto and locked away for a very, very long time.It has been said before and will be said again and again and again,The law is a shambles now.And more than likely for poor old IC he would of been battered within an inch of his life by these pricks who would of simply dissapeared away back to wherever they crawled out from with no further thought to it other than bragging rights to their equally pathetic friends. Sadly your hands are tied.Respond with any action other than one that would'nt affect the human rights of the scum victimising you and you'll be the one that gets the visit from the plod.Law abiding, tax paying easy target that you are. You have my deepest sympathies to your predicament IC,hope you can make something good come out of it yet.
  4. Coolio. Did the pyrenees in late 2006 with a good mate who lives i Spain, some of the best rding i've done to date.only downside of France is the long straight roads up north that are puncuated with those tiny bloody roundabouts, you just end up squaring of your tyre's. Nice tidy looking bike though mate,i'd last maybe half an hour before i'd need winching of it mind you, waaay to small for this 6 footer.
  5. If you want a bit of company for the ride i'm toying with an Austria trip this year, see an old mate,Get away from the famly for a bit,Could maybe have a thrash some of the way with you.I'll just about keep up i think,i'm on a ZZR1400. Don't have matching leathers i'm afriad though.......
  6. Buy a field vice, take home a lovely log to whack it into and just practice mate. If you're fairly fresh to this lark buy a file guide too eh?Will hel p you get your angle right, you have been shown how to sharpen have'nt you?Al respect due,it just seems a bit of a daft question.Get right sized file, get comfy as you can and sharpen.Nowt more to it than that really mate.
  7. Only really started stretching before a climb in the past 12 months,Got launched of my old Kwaker Z1000 a few years back and backs not always as forgiving as it could be.Much prefer to look a like a tit twisting and stretching in somebodys garden than look like i've shat meself cos of the way i'm walking later in the week. If i don't get a good few clicks from my neck before a climb i've not done the warm up properly. Is always the same in the winter though is'nt it?Old war wounds play up a bit.
  8. Was a good program that, took me back to my Aussie work. Also given me serious thoughts on asking for a crossbow for work????We do work in some rough parts of Birkenhead from time to time so it'll always have a potential use hehe.
  9. Never believe the new lad(18 and his first job)when he replies that the jockey wheel is definatley up and tightened. Because when you get a whiff of that burning rubber smell and hear that strange noise above the radio you'll know why.........
  10. Just a word of advice form one who's been told by one who knew. My dad had the operation done and the only bit he regretted was having both wrists done at once. I don't know if he'd had a heavy Guiness session or what, but he managed to pop some of his stiches after "tidying" himself up one morning in the loo. Just a thought, don't know how understanding and helpfull your girlfriend is.
  11. Well, always liked a 044.could do most things with one of those, nice weight, good handling and my back did'nt glow too much after a day felling with one,and as for a top handle an 020T seems to be one of the best handling saws for me so far, nice balance for when i'm being unprofessional and using it one handed(a lot)a bit of a bugger for bit's pinging out when you've stripped it down to work on the trigger/dead mans handle etc,but they all are as i've found over the years. Another thing Re; the stihl/husky debate is that i'm sure i've read somewhere that the husky's have a better trigger time than the stihl's,always something to bear in mind.
  12. Thats excellent, the kids have been doing sea cadets for just short of a year now and i've shown them all the knot's i know,i can look all clever to my wee one's again now! Plus i can still continue to amaze and astound my groundie's too haha
  13. More of an after pic really,Made this for the girls at the kiddies nursery in whitwood.
  14. Cheers for that Phenom. Yeah i'm sure that doing it all again will make perfect sense, but having three lads all with the appetites of starving pirhana's and being the kind of fella who unless he's got something shiney and heavy in his hands after spending that much cash does tend to sulk a little. But i hear what you're saying, sure things have moved on quite a lot since i did it last.
  15. I've applied to do the online course with myerscough, but having done it once before(part time study)i'm wondering whether forking out £690 quid to go over what i've done once,be it 6 years ago, would be wise.Would it be too hard to study myself?Buy more reading material,go through the old exam papers again etc?No doubt it'd be a real pain the the backside just finding what i'd have to cover for the course on my own.Just not filled with hope after hearing a couple of comments on the home study way.
  16. Used to be a wakefieldoinian, but moved to the wirral after meeting a buxom lady from these parts. Worked in Desbury for a while with Simon Armitage, that was a learning curve! Lived in Kirkheaton for a while on/off,thats round them there Huddersfield ways you know. Later on spent a few years with WMDC. Do you know any of the lads that usd to work iover Dewsbury way about the time the sawmill was running on the Ravensthorpe industrial estate? John Hanwell etc?
  17. Looks like this is the place to say hello,so Hello all. I'm an arborist of 16 years, worked in the UK and Australia, all good fun(Mostly). Spotted this site somwehere along the way and thought i'd join up as always good to learn a little more if you can.
