  1. Nice one Ian, Good on ya for getting back at it after so long away. All the best with it.
  2. Thanks stephen, had a feeling you'd have a fair bit of info for me. And Felix, much appreciated, And aye Dean, i'll keep my head down, gob shut, Don't want the Mrs sitting in the corner on our honeymoon as she listens to two tree berks rambling on
  3. Stephen. you've just sold Aviemore to me,thats definately on the list mate. Breweries you say???
  4. Skye will be an option this time. Was a bit much with the ferry costs when we had our boys with us last time, but as i said we'll have all the money to ourselves this time thankfully.Ended up in Portree lst time i was there getting eaten alive by midges. This was about half an hour after me and my mate silently mocked all the other folks there wearing big mozzie nets for looking daft.Think i looked dafter wafting my arms and slappin my baldy head all evening.
  5. Cheers Stephen, You've mentioned quite a few spots we were going to hed back to already,Oban Loch Ness, Fort William (Good cheap outdoor shop there ,on the highstreet, not the one nxt to the green)And a few i'd not thought of,aviemore, glenmore campsite. Think we'll be doing our eating out in the evening and sticking with the supermarket, bakers in the day mostly. Is always good to have a bit of local knowledge though isn't it
  6. Any really, have a few quid to spend and will more than likely be getting few more on the big day.Not going to be scrimping on this trip, just want a nice time to remember. Not going to take the canoe with us on this trip either, so be up for a few boat trips.
  7. How do all. I'm heading up north on the 11th of this month, going to head to Ullapool via the west side of the country. Love the place, 1st time was on the ZZR with a mate, can't rememember much of that trip as most of it was spent in the pubs sampling some of the rather tasty drams on offer.Very scenic and nice what i do recall. Last time was with the familly, we spent best part of our time in Ullapool camping opposite loch Broom getting a tan, eating good seafood and watchin porpoise in the loch. Happy days, especially as the rest of the country seemed to be getting gales and downpours that August. But this time is our budget honeymoon, gettin wed on Friday then heading off with the new Mrs Mallinder for a week of relaxation away from the lads. What i want to know is any recomendations from you who live there/know of places to go, eat, drink, fish, camp, stay? Plan (roughly) is drive up as far as we can and sleep in the car, (big enough for an airbed in the back so no worries there) then, well? Head north and hope for good weather and good times. Maybe camp out in a forest somewhere, head as far north as we can and see about a bit of whale/wildlife watching?Don't know whens best for that? Thoughts, ideas anyone??? Thanks Brett aka Yorkshire pudding.
  8. Reminds me of something an older workmate said to me years ago. "Hard work... makes young men old"
  9. Ya jammy bugger. Nice one.
  10. Been on the side of this oak for around 30 years.
  11. Yeah mate, got a fair few NPTC units behind me over the years,Only really started thinking academic seriously the last few years, think i may have a wee bit of whitefinger what with the chainsaws and biking over the years. So each winter the want to do a bit more "paper/office" based work rather than tools does get stronger, BUT each summer it fades really quickly And cheers for that Rob, just glad it's done and don't have to sit it again, or pay for it again more to the point .
  12. Just got results through from my December exam. Passed!!Sorted, nice one. What now? I know this is entry level and just the start really, but with 17 years "hands on" experience and this qual as a starter what sort of postion could i reallistically look at going in for? Thoughts from those of you who know? In time i shall be doing more study, maybe Arb tech cert next.
  13. Bought the same set up myself about 6 months ago and have never looked back. All i'm thinking now is a left foot mounted pantin, just to speed up the ascent(and relieve the right leg wang i get after a long haul up) Just play about with various knots and as soon as you find the one that works for you you'll know it. Oh, buy a small biner to pop through the hole in the pantin, stops the rope slipping out.
  14. Hi Scott.

Just to let you know i've taken the RFS and passed.

    Thought i'd let you know.

    Cheers

    Brett

  15. I got 60 on paper 1 and 58 on paper 2. Was quite happy to get that to be honest, defered the exam once already as i felt i'd not done enough revision.Just dropped lucky on the questions i think!Seemed to have the answers ready to go. Had the usuall CODIT diagram to draw and explain, ???? erm, to be completely honest i can't recall the other questions right now? (It's far too early, the kids are off shooting with sea cadets and have to be up at daft o'clock. They don't understand quietly.........)
  16. Stop for Friction Saver These are quite handy too for around 4 quid.
  17. Sat the same paper myself at Myerscough Dec 8th and rememeber that question vivdley. Thought at the time how ridiculous it was too! But, must of done something right, got the results throught this morning and have passed!!!only got 51 on that paper though so just scraped through, was very supprised i did in fact. Very nearly left some sarky comments on the paper if i'm honest, had been a long day sitting the 3 papers and to have that crop up on the last one... CE Numbers?????? Anyway, it's done now, best of luck to you for next time too.
  18. There is, i gave one away to a young lad that worked with us a while ago. A light alloy one if i recall.
  19. No speakah de inglis !! A bus stops and 2 Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in an animated conversation. The lady sitting next to them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of them say the following: Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come once-a-more! . Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time.' The lady can't take this any more, You foul-mouthed sex obsessed pig,' she retorted indignantly. 'In this country, we don't speak aloud in Public places about our sex lives. 'Hey, coola down lady,' said the man. 'Who talkin' abouta sex? I'm a justa tellin' my frienda how to spell ' Mississippi’ £5.00 says you're gonna read this again
  20. A DAMN FINE EXPLANATION The wife came home early and found her husband in their bedroom making love to a very attractive young woman. And she was somewhat upset. 'You are a disrespectful pig!' she cried. 'How dare you do this to me -- a faithful wife, the mother of your children! I'm leaving you. I want a divorce right away!' And the husband replied, 'Hang on just a minute love, so at least I can tell you what happened.= 'Fine, go ahead,' she sobbed,' but they'll be the last words you'll say to me!' And the husband began -- 'Well, I was getting into the car to drive home, and this young lady here asked me for a lift. She looked so down and out and defenseless that I took pity on her and let her into the car. I noticed that she was very thin, not well dressed and very dirty. She told me that she hadn't eatan for three days. So, in my compassion, I brought her home and warmed up the meal I made for you last night, the one you wouldn't eat because you're afraid you'll put on weight. The poor thing devoured them in moments.. Since she needed a good clean-up, I suggested a shower, and while she was doing that, I noticed her clothes were dirty and full of holes, so I threw them away. Then, as she needed clothes, I gave her the expensive designer jeans that you bought a couple years back, but don't wear because you say they not the "in" name this year. I also gave her the underwear that was your anniversary present, which you don't wear because I don't have good taste. I found the sexy blouse my sister gave you for Christmas that you don't wear just to annoy her, and I also donated those boots you bought at the expensive boutique and don't wear because someone at work has a pair the same.' The husband took a quick breath and continued - 'She was so grateful for my understanding and help that as I walked her to the door, she turned to me with tears in her eyes and said, 'Please ... Do you have anything else that your wife doesn't use?
  21. Where do you live mate? I've still got a lonely planet guide to the place, found it great for referances, what to do, where to go etc. It's 10 years old like, but your welcome to it if you don't want to buy one, thoroughly recomend getting a copy though, you can make your trip exactly how you want it, whether you want a "love you long time" time or a bit o jungle trekking,it's got a load of info for you.Whatever floats your boat.
