  4. a friend of mine who is a landscaper, 9 years ago started a tree side to his company but his climber left soon after so had no real work for the saw. its a husqvarna 394 xp with i think a 28 or 30 inch bar. the saw is a 1999 but purchased from honey brothers in 2000 or 2001, still running origonal bar and chain, been used no more than 15 times so very few hours use. was serviced 2 years ago by a local dealer and im the only person to start the saw today since then. She fired up on the third pull!! feels like a new saw to pull over loads of compression. as you can see there are very few marks or scratches. its not had a hard life. i said i would sell it for him, im based in farnham Surrey so whats it worth???? im a stihl man so dont have a clue, well i have an idea. thanks all

  6. I've looked at the job and there is about 200 tonns plus in the first phase of work. The trees varry from one foot up to three foot at the base. What price could I get road side as firewood?? Any help would be great Thanks
  7. thanks for the replies, so the next question is what do you think i could sell it for roadside? just trying to work out some costing before i look at the job. ive been told the jobs mine if i want it and as payment i can have all of the timber. so just seeing if its financialy viable as im used to getting paid for tree work and not having to sell the timber.
  8. Hi all, im looking at a job tomorrow there is approx 80 acres os sweet chestnut to be coppiced all different sizes to large stems. ive not seen the site but in the past companies have brought standing timber on the site, felled the trees, extracted and sold the timber etc.... if the site has good access for timber extraction is there any value in sweet chestnut as firewood?? i know its one of the worst timbers for firewood because it spits. can it be used for any thing else? i dont want to get into making fencing products from the wood. I woul only have time to fell the trees and get them roadside. what could it fetch roadside or delivered?? any input would be great. thanks Rhys
  9. I've worked for nick Faldo the golfer, Elton John, Bruce Forsyth and quite a few Russians who are famous in russia. But not one cup of tea
  10. Hi all knowing how high timber prices are at the moment thought i would put this on here!! ive got a job comming up in Basingstoke to fell some large coppiced ash trees. Usualy we would run the wood and chip back to our yard in Godalming but its a bit of a drive from the job. so if any one wants the logs and chip i can take it to your yard if its near by or you can collect the logs as they will be road side. all timber would be cut into managable size lengths (one guy can lift) its nice timber being an old coppice!! about three 3.5 t truck loads of chip and four-five of wood. we would be doing the job mid march pm me if interested

  21. i would say there are so many people on site because working at a temple in japan would be like working at buckinham palace for us!! a real honour. Dr John is a great guy i was at a seminar of his in chicargo this year, there is a real cultural difference in japan. before the do any work to a tree they have to thank the tree by pouring an offering of rice wine to the gods. even down to the family head scarfs the workers wear. Dr John is doing a lot of work with disabled and under privilaged kids getting them up and climbing trees. he is always looking for help too out there!!
