  1. please please please put some up for us to see...
  2. now that makes sense... thanks for all replys, much better explained than anything I have read so far..
  3. Would like to see it, try it... In fact I did see someone being shown it at the apf, but he was really struggling to ascend and getting the hitch to bite...so I didn't hang around very long. I wonder if Mister Hancock uses the vt, maybe he could show me the ropes...(see what I did there)
  4. I don't have any problem limb walking on a prussik but I'm not saying it's perfect by any stretch of the imagination...ascending is ok, if I have a long pull then I will either put a long prussik on with a pulley underneath set from the leading line so I can hand over hand, or use a pantin-esque attachment, but neither of those are anywhere near perfect either...but they work. When you are on a pull up the tree and doing your hand over hand thang..does the rope feed itself through the hitch or do you ned to stop and tend it yourself..? thanks btw.
  5. What a well thought out, unbiased, detailed and accomplished conveyance of information there...Thanks for sharing Unfortunately I haven't yet met anyone who uses the vt, of all the arbs I have encountered, they all use a basic system, be it blakes or prussik. Some of them are outstanding climbers, hell some of them even run their own business with teams of climbers underneath them all using prussiks etc...You need to get out there matty and spread the word a bit more.
  6. fabreze..check! will post results.
  7. Any washing or ironing tips just give me a shout... I would feel a bit guilty taking a second pair back after they were so nice last time, unless I knew it was a common problem of course. I have been washing them correctly, been far more careful with them than any other make of trousers so I know it isn't my fault and am fairly confident others would have experienced the same thing. If not I'll just chuck them and get something else, shame though as they are by far the most comfortable trouser I have had.
  8. steve, I've never had a problem with any trousers before. They are washed on "silks" which is virtually cold, no spin dry, no anti-wrinkle cycle...no radiators, no airing cupboard...just washed and hung out to dry. After a few months they are about 3 inch shorter in the leg. I know of one other person it has happened to but not heard anything else from on here so would be interested if anyone else has experienced anything similar.
  9. never used a vt...think I am the only one left.
  10. fast as lightning here in the midlands... Is everyone who is having problems on IE by an chance...try firefox. that^^is the sum total of my techy knowledge so if it is completely useless, I apologise.
  11. Has anyone else ever had some arblite chainsaw trousers..?? Bought a pair last year and after a couple of months they started shrinking, gradually working their way up my leg. I took them back to the retail outlet that supplied them and they replaced the free of charge which was nice...now this pair is doing the exact same thing. Washed on a low wash and dried naturally..i.e no hot radiators etc... The thing is they are really comfortable and stand up to thorns etc really well. They don't rip or tear or snag at all. But they shrink... The gaffer had the same happen to a pair a year or so ago. not good.
  12. would you use it for anything other than ascending though..? Am I right in saying some people on here climb exclusively with mechanicals like the lockjack etc.?
  13. cool, thanks for the reply drew...top man:001_smile:
  14. I think I can see skyhuck in the background with a ladder:001_tongue:
  15. cracking view mate..nice pics. I'm sure it will look fine with a bit of re-growth.
  16. I can see what is happening there, but why or when would you use it..? thanks.
  17. I wouldn;t like to suggest how it should be done as there is no formula, every tree is different. I spent years doing exactly this on railway embankments and culverts...sometimes removing the supporting limb early on is the way to go, sometimes leaving it till near last is safer...all depends on what is holding what.
  18. google says t22 with a funky scaffolders fall arrest attachment thingy..?
  19. how do you all earn a living when you live by the "you can't reduce a tree" rule..?
  20. T22 wasn't mine it was Stu's climbing gear that was knicked and he wouldn;t replace it with anything other than another T22...but yes, I have tried a butterfly and didn't like it. Mine is a svensk tradvard skybelt.
  21. Thats why we spent the morning beefing everything up. Whats wrong with a T22 btw..?
  22. yes it was mate. Appears this is happening everywhere, hearing similar stories every week.
  23. Our van got broken into last night...I arrived at work this morning to find one of the windows smashed. It's a Transit crew cab and the rear seats have been stripped out and windows tinted. They broke the rear side window but didn;t manage to get into the AndyDesignsTM lock-box. Also couldn't get the doors of the van open even though they broke in because of the deadlocks. Must have given up after a while, made a bit of a mess of the lock-box doors but didn't get anything out. They did however manage to get a set of climbing gear, not sure why they took that but they did. It was a pro-climber bag containing a willans T22 harness, a 45m sequoia rope and various biners, ascenders and lanyards. Have spent this morning revising and strengthening the parts of the box they managed to damage, new window fitted and other bits and bobs. Got broken into about 4 yrs years ago and they took everything, so feel very lucky and thank god for AndyDesignsTM and fords deadlocking system. they are out there so be extra careful with your kit guys.

    MEWP or Climb

I personally feel happier on a rope than a platform...but thats just me, a decent mewp operator who also climbs is probably a better source of info than I.
  25. 4 pages in...can we have the answer now please.....
