  1. It doesn't appear to be detrimental though, based on my quite limited observations. The climate probably helps - short, hot, dry summers and long freakin' cold, dry winters. Not very condusive to fungi and other wood eating organisms. But that begs the question, why even bother with masonry work on trees?
  2. For these two weeks I do. I'm visiting the in-laws. Been a few times before but it never ceases to amaze me.
  3. Back on track with the painting tree trunks white derail. The majority of urban trees are treated that way here in China. The practice goes hand in hand with sealing up cavities and large wounds with concrete or mortar. Not sure the thinking behind it but it seems to work. Or maybe the tree doesn't care either way, and just gets on with it's own thing of healing up. That one even had drainage pipes built in.
  4. The maths of rightwing populism: easy answers + confidence = reassuring certainty THECONVERSATION.COM In an uncertain world our natural instinct is to seek out answers that reassure, even when they don’t make sense.
  5. Wordle 1,081 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  6. Plan C. Hang around outside a primary school. You could probably swap one for a pinch o' weed!
  7. Alternatively, an easier option would be just to just buy a vintage one. All the old English tool makers made a lot that were exported to the colonies. Proper, heavy, quality.
  8. Spring steel. Eg. From a leaf spring off a truck or an old car.
  9. You don't need common sense to make money these days. Just a fake tan, immaculate teeth and loads of arrogant BS.
  10. There seems to be some confusion about stats again. "estimated number of privately owned guns per 100 people." Estimated number of civilian guns per capita by country - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  11. Wordle 1,080 4/6 🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟩🟨⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Back to GOT.
  12. Ground Hog day again unfortunately. One dead, dozens hurt in Ohio mass shooting BBC.COM At least 26 people have been injured after a shooting in the US city of Akron, police say.
  13. The irony. Wordle 1,079 5/6 🟨⬜⬜⬜🟩 ⬜🟨⬜⬜🟩 🟨⬜🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  14. Of course it does mate. Cows are just something you see in children's books.
  15. Different type of walnuts. @Steven P
  16. I think it would be a revelation to quite a lot of people that all fruit comes from flowers, and all flowers create some kind of fruit. Being asked if it's safe to eat apples from a tree in their garden is a particular favorite of mine.
  17. Don't forget his other number 1 fan, The πŸ₯¬. She'll be expressing similar sentiments in due course. Brings to mind the Pied Piper and his rats.
  18. Slightly less disorganised, but unpredictable as always. Wordle 1,077 4/6 🟨⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨🟩⬜⬜ 🟨⬜🟩🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  19. You learn something new every day. I thought LinkedIn was just for professional networking and general brown nosing, as a means to find a new, better job. I didn't know it could be used to spread "the message" as well.
  20. Thanks for the corroboration Bud.
  21. Sadly, the verdict will probably bolster his support by the crazies even more. Weirdly he'll be no less likely to win now.
  22. Redemption. Of sorts. Wordle 1,076 5/6 ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜🟩 🟨🟩🟨⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
