  1. Well, if I'm absolutely honest, I am actually in Stavanger, Norway My business is on the island of Arran, and again being honest, I am just inquisitive about the roadside prices of chipwood in your area, to compare what we are paying here on the island.
  2. What about the Rural Development Programme for England 2007-2013? http://www.defra.gov.uk/rural/rdpe/index.htm
  3. No need to find out, I was just trying to be clever by referring to the news that DONG wants to build a "clean coal" power station at Hunterston, using technology not permitted in their own country of Denmark due to the high emmissions (they think it would be fine to build it in Scotland then). http://www.arranvoice.com/view_article.php?id=5877&searchword=dong
  4. There are certain types of "cooking" that a man can never learn........
  5. I think you'll find that it is railway wagons Stevie was referring to.
  6. Love the "tree" graphics - cool. Here is some feedback based on my experiences (http://www.arranwoodfuels.co.uk Don't use the word "massively" in the same sentence as your costs! Don't mix private/family/hobbies/pets with your business, makes it look unprofessional. Have a seperate website for your personal things. Hope this helps.......
  7. Is that some of this new "clean coal" for Hunterston that the Danish are ranting about (but are not allowed to use in their own country)........
  8. Is this of any interest to you? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-110-TIPPING-BODY_W0QQitemZ280302906230QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item280302906230&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
  9. Give John Wilson (the seller) a quick call and ask him. 01556 612 233 That's unfortunate, I have never had any problems. Tell the secretary you want to buy a Valtra T180 with roofmount Botex, he'll probably drop everything to talk to you..............
  10. Here is a tidy Palax 600 combi for only £2,300 (they also have a Japa 700 for sale) http://www.jaspwilson.co.uk/cgi-bin/jas/jas-pagedriver.cgi?file=whatsnew
  11. We are well satisfied with our Hakki Pilke 1x37. Has produced over 100 tonnes in the last 3 months and has never given any problems.
  12. This sounds like an opportunity to me, what are you waiting for........ You guys in Hampshire want to get up to the West of Scotland to see what successful woodchip supply-chains can produce. Here are some case studies to whet your appetite: http://www.highlandwoodenergy.co.uk/casestudies.asp
  13. Sounds good, but don't go to too much trouble for us............
  14. That's the kind of language I like.... We will be over to see you on Sat 24th, I'll phone before then to make arrangements. Angus
  15. What a good idea, never thought of that. I just considered bolting the cracker to the rotator, then using it as a grab too (to feed the processor). I know "Shreks Sibling" has one and he has already kindly offered to show me it working. See a small one in action here: http://www.champfleurieestate.co.uk/acatalog/champfleurie.wmv
  16. Just thinking about suppositories reminds me of a story I heard about young Norwegian women. Seemingly, they can't afford the quantities of alcohol required to get themselves drunk, so they dip tampons in neat vodka, then apply the tampons where most young women apply tampons. Hey presto, they are drunk withing 30 seconds............ (Sorry for stealing the thread..... and NO I don't have any available accommodation in Norway.....;-))
  17. We have a number of larger trunks that are too big to go through the firewood processor (Hakki Pilke X47), and therefor are looking for ways to split the trunks down into smaller diameters. Does anyone have experience with working with Woodcrakers on 3m length softwood timber? I notice there is a range of AUER ones available, are they any good?
  18. How avout a TW20 engine? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-TW-20-engine_W0QQitemZ150320205692QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_BOI_FarmingEquipment_RL?hash=item150320205692&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A7%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
  19. We are developing a project to buy and install an AGRICONT biomass heating unit at a local 600 year old castle. The 150 kWh VETO wood chip boiler will be connected to the existing heating system and will dramatically cut the castles' heating bills. http://www.highlandwoodenergy.co.uk/pdf/Veto%20Agri%20Cont%20energy%20centres.jpg This will, of course, use our own wood chips and we will charge the property owners per kWh of heat energy used. The responsibility is then on ourselves to ensure we supply the best quality chips to extract the most heat energy per m3. Should be an interesting challenge......
  20. Note that the figures shown in this costing are from 2006, and in my opinion, are really out of date.
  21. ARBTALK.co.uk Online Forum for arborists "so you think you know about trees........"
  22. I am on my way over to Arran on the 23rd (from Norway, via Aberdeen), might be a good opportunity to call in. Let me talk to my operator and see if he wants to come over to Largs for the day (I don't touch that nasty, dirty stuff, might stain my nice suit). Can ypu PM me your phone number, Steve?
  23. Is your wood cracker similar to the one at the start of this film? http://www.champfleurieestate.co.uk/acatalog/champfleurie.wmv
