  1. A couple of pictures of our set-up: 3-point linkage FARMA C6,0 crane modified with brackets to mount a Junkkari 260 crane-fed chipper.
  2. I've just heard there are several jobs in jeopardy!! Don't know where that is, exactly........
  3. Not yet, it's a cool machine I have been looking at in Norway. I liked the hi-tip action, but the chipper was too lightweight for our woodfuel work.
  4. Pretty good with a wee cab on it to save getting your hair wet.....
  5. Whilst I agree that one can be vulnerable with too much debt, I would add that borrowing can be extremely effective if it is managed properly. (have you ever seen Dragons' Den?) I know many in business who struggle away with low borrowings, getting absolutely nowhere, whereas others borrow to buy good kit and, with proper management, increase their turnover with a direct effect on profitability.
  6. Have you not heard about the Enterprise Finance Guarantee ? In any case, as someone said earlier, you need to produce a good business plan to show investors how the additional capital expenditure will benefit the business. I would most certainly NOT recommend borrowing from a Loan Shark or somebody's mate who knows another guy........
  7. You are quite right, of course you can choose who you buy from. But in my experience, in the scenario you describe with one quote at 100k and another at 6k, and if the level of grant was 50%, then you would get 3k. You're then free then to choose whether to spend 3k or 97k, but the grant will always be 3k.
  8. This would indicate that the grants you are talking about are offering 50% of total costs, based on the cheapest quote (which is not always the one you want to use ). So if you are talking about only a capital expenditure of only £4k to £5k then that is something you really must follow-up. In the West of Scotland we are looking at altering the ownership structure of our (larger) biomass projects, since community owned facilities can attract 90% This, combined with the fact that Community Energy Scotland CES are prepared to act as bankers too, makes the whole community approach entirely acceptable. Thanks again to the work of the Scottish Government in supporting deprived areas of Scotland.
  9. There are plenty of grants available over the whole country, and that is great. The problem, though, is the match-funding...........
  10. I think you'll find an umbrella more useful in Bergen They sold all their ex-Brathens Fokker Friendships, now have a fleet of 40 737's and have a further 58 737-800's on order. They are the 4th largest budget airline in Europe and have rebranded themselves "Norwegian" Norwegian
  11. Not unlike our Wood Energy Scotland website : Wood Energy Scotland
  12. We already have this excellent site in Scotland: Wood Energy Scotland, woodfuel, further information, find a supplier
  13. Sorry, but it has already been invented in the West Coast of Scotland............... Isle of Mull - Shieling Holidays Campsite
  14. We use an old (MOT failed) LDV side tipper (ex-council). Positioned beside the processor and powered by 12v battery. Can be tipped slightly to ease the logs across. Sold the engine/gearbox for the same price as we paid for the whole truck, so have a log deck absolutely free. Not pretty, I admit, but it does the job You could easily use a conventional tipper, positioned at right angles to our set-up.
  15. There was a baby minature hippo born at Edinburgh zoo!! That's good news, according to Sally Magnusson
  16. We have a few, Stevie. Got them and never used them, our customers all prefer bulk loads.
  17. "Oh Power of Scotland" biomass power that is.....................
  18. Teaching maths in 1970 1. A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit? 2. Teaching Maths In 1980 A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100. His cost of production is 80% of the price. What is his profit? 3. Teaching Maths In 1990 A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100. His cost of production is £80. How much was his profit? 4. Teaching Maths In 2000 A logger sells a truckload of timber for £100. His cost of production is £80 and his profit is £20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20. 5. Teaching Maths In 2005 A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habit of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. Your assignment: Discuss how the birds and squirrels might feel as the logger cut down their homes just for a measly profit of £20. 6. Teaching Maths In 2009 A logger is arrested for trying to cut down a tree in case it may be offensive to Muslims or other religious groups not consulted in the felling licence. He is also fined a £100 as his chainsaw is in breach of Health and Safety legislation as it deemed too dangerous and could cut something. He has used the chainsaw for over 20 years without incident however he does not have the correct certificate of competence and is therefore considered to be a recidivist and habitual criminal. His DNA is sampled and his details circulated throughout all government agencies. He protests and is taken to court and fined another £100 because he is such an easy target. When he is released he returns to find Gypsies have cut down half his wood to build a camp on his land. He tries to throw them off but is arrested, prosecuted for harassing an ethnic minority, imprisoned and fined a further £100. While he is in jail the Gypsies cut down the rest of his wood and sell it on the black market for £100 cash. They also have a leaving BBQ of squirrel and pheasant and depart leaving behind several tonnes of rubbish and asbestos sheeting. The forester on release is warned that failure to clear the fly tipped rubbish immediately at his own cost is an offence. He complains and is arrested for environmental pollution, breach of the peace and invoiced £12,000 plus VAT for safe disposal costs by a regulated government contractor. Your assignment: How many times is the logger going to have to be arrested and fined before he realises that he is never going to make £20 profit by hard work, give up, sign onto the dole and live off the state for the rest of his life? 7. Teaching Maths In 2010 A logger doesn’t sell a lorry load of timber because he can’t get a loan to buy a new lorry because his bank has spent all his and their money on a derivative of securitised debt related to sub- prime mortgages in Alabama and lost the lot with only some government money left to pay a few million pound bonuses to their senior directors and the traders who made the biggest losses. The logger struggles to pay the £1,200 road tax on his old lorry however, as it was built in the 1970s it no longer meets the emissions regulations and he is forced to scrap it. Some Bulgarian loggers buy the lorry from the scrap merchant and put it back on the road. They undercut everyone on price for haulage and send their cash back home, while claiming unemployment for themselves and their relatives. If questioned they speak no English and it is easier to deport them at the governments expense. Following their holiday back home they return to the UK with different names and fresh girls and start again. The logger protests, is accused of being a bigoted racist and as his name is on the side of his old lorry he is forced to pay £1,500 registration fees as a gang master. The Government borrows more money to pay more to the bankers as bonus's are not cheap. The parliamentarians feel they are missing out and claim the difference on expenses and allowances. You do the maths. 8. Teaching Maths 2017 أ المسجل تبيع حموله شاحنة من الخشب من اجل 100 دولار. صاحب تكلفة الانت=D 8ج من الثمن. ما هو الربح له؟
  19. Why do you have a climber up a tree as an avatar then?
  20. Mighty impressive, But I think that chopper is too small for the job. They should have a larger one with more power and more stability.............
  21. Tell them about the price of beer, Mike. That'll dampen their spirits....... Norway is my best kept secret and I'm a little disappointed that it's out in the open now..... Stay away, stay away!!
  22. How about a job as a rigger in the offshore oil industry. Here in Norway, offshore roatations are: 2 weeks offshore 3 weeks leave 2 weeks offshore 4 weeks leave.... Plenty of time in betwen for arb work or even interior decorating....
