    small van

the boss here has just got a new transit connect 1.8(?)turbo diesel, fully loaded (air con, heated seats, engine warmer ect) it was about 5K cheaper than the vw caddy alternative. tows a fair weight, super economical, nippy, comfy, not too flash, looks the part sign written, plenty of space for kit. very good little van!
  3. she was absoutly stunning dean, i mean properely beautifull, perfect, THATS the reason we're going back! i just couldnt resist taking a sneaky pic:001_tongue: tom, i couldnt agree more, hoping to travel and cut more and more over the next few years:001_cool:
  4. ok, so not all work and no play, heres a cool burr i saw then not all work and no play, but more climbing! first time ive tried it, for once brute force isnt best:blushing: good fun though, fair play to you rock climbing boys n girls! we're going to get our rock climbing card sorted so we dont need to be supervised, wills done it before, i need to stop hauling myself up with my arms! and a pic for dean:sneaky2:
  5. the trucks unladen weight arent 5 tonnes, the gross vehicle weight is either a down rated/plated 3.5tonnes (suitable for all licence holders) or the full 5.5 tonnes(like it sounds mateys geting), which need either a pre97 licence or 7.5tonne+licence to drive definatly looking foward to the pics! sounds like a dream arb vehicle
  6. awesome!!! lucky you mare, no wonder the counculs are penny pinching:001_tongue: thought it was 24 foward gears 4 reverse though?
  7. no worries about interupting, youre interuption has made all the diffrence to my views of the product/system could you keep the anchor points as tc had, but use a craning/redirect pulley near the butt??? could be easier for multiple resetting, whilst giving the controll off the butt you demonstrated on the beech??? then if the redirect pulley could be released, the groundsmen would have the advantages of the higer anchor-for pulling the lowered limb away from the tree, e,g fence near trunk. could that be a possibility?
  8. thanks for the reply tc,watching the vids again, i think why i couldnt see the benifits on youre vid, was because it seems like the butt pulley rope was high up with the tip pully perhaps? away from the butt?? which LOOKS like it decreased the ammount of control, whereas reg's vid in comparison, the beech branches are controlled much more because the butt pulley is close to the butt tie off point. youre opinion please? if you were to do the cedar again, would you do it diffrently? would you take off whole limbs to the trunk, if you had the butt pulley close to the butt, like how reg does in his vid? this is why discussions good! i can now appreciate how 2 ropes, with 2 pulleys speeds up the job, through lowering off bigger pieces, with more control
  9. ok, now i can visualise the advantages, whereas before i couldnt see the advantages over the traditional techniques, thanks for the link from 2.48 its impressive the ammount of control you can acheive from the butt pulley being so close, and the 2 line system, im guessing the lines were pre tensioned with the lever? what weight can it lift? or is its primary role to tension? like i said above, its good to try new stuff out before its really needed, im still intrested in the users views, ease of use and experiences (people like TC or myself) as opposed to the manufacture/designers of new products (no offence reg, but you obviously know it inside out!)
  10. to test it out fair enough, but that looked painfully slow. maybe if the top pully points were diffrent, and away from the main stem it could have an advantage. but looks like any of those limbs could have been lowered off flat with a capstan and cradle technique, or just capstan, or cut n chuck but good to test things out before its needed how do you reckon it will speed things up or help on some BIG limbs?
  11. no clear winner, but about 60million loosers
  12. about the 18th paragraph down of the main article also some sort of small racing company in the states Josh Philpott Racing - Bassett, Virginia (VA) | Company Profile
  13. HAHA i made the news! when i came here (sweden) for a week a month or so ago, it was when the british airway cabin crew strikes were on, i was interviewed, theyve quoted me on the bbc news website! BBC News - Government 'weakness' encourages strikes, Cameron says Heathrow passenger Josh Philpotts said: "I think the strikers are the ones in the wrong. I just think that in a recession they should be grateful for a job."
  14. congrats peter and louisa

    Arb Shows

The biggest, and the best (sorry justin!) APF 2010, the UK?s largest forestry and arboricultural exhibition is returning to the same location as its hugely successful 2008 event.
  16. have you actually driven a 130? a full 17" diffrence in wheelbase, so chassis and prop to a 110 dosent increase the weight enough for even a metro to notice, the 130 is also shorter in overall length than all but the shortwheelbase transits, and alot narrower too, so tight driveways shoulndt be a problem for a good driver:001_smile:
  17. jesus thats a big saw peter! what size is it? or is it an optical illusion?? why do you like using a big handsaw?
  18. nice one dean, at least its british (sort of) and shows youre not over-compensating anymore:001_tongue:
  19. haha, according to stevie, a bonzai can be turned into a stunt fell:001_tongue: as long as theres a high chance of damaging something, which could have the chance lessened by climbing, and stunting it saved time, size doesnt matter, although as with everything, the bigger, the better:thumbup:
  20. were you able to fell the stem tom? or chog down in 6ft lengths? if so, consider a chainsaw mill. its far easier for 2 blokes to carry a 100kilo plank, than 2 blokes carry a 50 kilo ring
  21. out of intrest dean, are you expecting to keep youre bandit for the full 20 year/2000hour life youve given it, or chop it in for a new one before that time? did that calculation take into account the resale value after the 2000hour deano life?
  22. I WANT TO RIDE THE B-KING!!!!!!!! only a 1300cc motor!
  23. very mate haha, but ive got one comming over from england next week, so im trying hard to be a good boy:001_smile:
