Definitely kick this one into touch. Stihl should be totally ashamed of the way they treated customers with the issue of crap clutch drums. There should have been a total recall and new drums fitted as default not on an as needed basis. Brand protection at its worst (and I have a 2018 ms261).

Been that way for a while now. Basically if you have ordered spares from L&S before you can continue to do so. I phoned them about this issue last year I think and that was what they told me. They are a very helpful firm.

I had basically the same setup on Dolmar PS421 (.325 lo pro) and found it quite a wicked combination. The only drawback was that the chains didn't look terribly robust although I had no problems.

Wouldn't have the plastic engine/exhaust cover for a Husqvarna r25 strimmer by any chance ? -
The newest 026 is going to be 17+ years old . Go for a MS260 as late as you can get. It's not a 550xp boy racer but a very very reliable 50cc saw with a 16" bar.

Unfortunately this saw will always be what it is - Chinese crap. If you were resorting an original Stihl or Husqvarna etc I could understand but you could have purchased this saw for new for the same money, seems like a huge waste of time and resources.

Can't go far wrong with a Dolmar PS421 ( or Makita equivalent) for a properly made (magnesium crankcase) affordable chainsaw with good power and reasonable weight.

Are people starting to trade in virtual chainsaws , in the same way as Bitcoins, ie it is the concept of a saw you are buying with absolutely no reality to back it up ?

Am I the only person in the UK to buy a loop of this chain ?

Just bought a 20" loop of Husqvarna's C85 chain out of interest. Looks very similar to Stihl's RS chain in 3/8. Anyone tried it yet ?

Flywheel not torqued up and flywheel key sheared/missing ?

The thing is any class of protection is fine until the sh*t hits the fan.

It really just depends on how much you value your legs.

The difference between blowers and chainsaws is quite significant. The load on blowers is significantly less than that with chainsaws . What works with blowers won't necessarily work with chainsaws.

Unfortunately Chinese chainsaws are a bit of a lottery , for every good one etc.
