  1. Right I sorted out the glitches. This is the rest of the video, usign footage from the new drift head cam as well. This is more for my editing practice than anything else, but it shows how much better the drift camera is compared to the previouse best cheap camera on the market. 2. Ah, wrong side of the M5! I'll bare you in mind but not much on at the moment.
  3. Its no coincidence that I have never posted nay pictures of reductions! Its just worht it, they are so subjective, there is right and there is wrong but there is such a massive gap in the middle where everybodies opinion will be different. Ultimatly the relationship between customer and tree worker is vital, between customer and tree is next in line and the relationship between worker and tree is probably the least important with regard to making a living from this job.
  4. Fixed it! Bit of a pavlova but got there in the end Its still rubbish though........ [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnP4SY6mY6o]YouTube - snow biking fixed.wmv[/ame]

    police sledging

No they were on duty thats why they had all the kit with them (thats riot sheilds they are sledging on) Good community policing I reckon!
  6. They got a bit of a telling off for this! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhaozqnZpAc]YouTube - UK Police sledging on riot shields[/ame]
  7. I've been playing around with the head cam some more, this is the drift X170 again. This footage is from biking yesterday, after my little crash! I edited it and published it and put it on you tube, but all the segments with the drift camera have come out half frame with green infill. The bits filmed with my old camera are fine. I tried editing again using only footage from the drift camera but it came out the same? This is the second version of just drift camera footage..... Anyone got any idea as to what I’m doing wrong? 8. What is? Letting a potential murderer go on about his business but making a few quid out of it on the way?
  9. You can't look for work as a climber, no way. You'l embarass yourself and waste soemones time. Go for it as a groundie, you have the rescue ticket so you can work directly with a climber as apposed to just beign the third person (dragger) so that will get you some experience and insight into the job.
  10. Is that extortion or blackmail? I always get those two muddled up!
  11. Minimum requirement then is CS30 which is using a saw to cut stuff up on the ground, like logs and trunks etc. It will teach you/him maintenance and safety and some techniques. Its not much use in its own but its a start. After that you need CS31 for felling small trees. Then you can fell small stuff and cut it up. Some place will do 30 and 31 as one course. Thats your basic "entry level". Then if you get straightforward jobs that require removal of small trees (fruit trees and the like) then you can get on with it. The courses don't teach you everything but its a start. If you have any doublts about felling then don't do it till the confidance is up. Like, if the tree is taller than the garden is long! Or if there is a chance of it not going where you want! None of these course will teach you anything about tree surgery, or how or why to prune trees, so don't set yourself up as that just yet.
  12. It will probably grow back fine. As normal Beech not copper, but it will grow back! That would be funny, if you took another picture in full leaf and it had completly reverted to green leaves due to stress! The customer is always right, thats where you getting confused. And when they are wrong (90% of the time) you have to let them think they are right, that is the skills of a tree surgeon/arborist.
  13. Yes no worries! And so was I, thanks for asking!
  14. As long as thats all the yeti blew off!
  15. Mitsibushi do king cab tippers from new but not crew cab.
  16. No, only a slight decline, I was up and peddling that why the cam is looking down, then I thought abotu where it was looking and BAM. All the downhill stuff was less eventful.
  17. Nothign wrong with ladders......especially doign multiple limes! But there is nothing easier than a beech to get a line into IMO.
  18. That cam has such a narrow viewign angle its rubbish. I went out last night and did the down hill run in the snow and dark, today there was too much snow but did it anyway. I'll edit the rest form the newer cam its better.
  19. PM him, he'll be very helpful I'm sure.
  20. I went on my bike today, I had the new cam on the handlebars and the old rubbish one on my cylce helmet but its was very wobbly. On the first run, I had only just put it on and was thinking about wher eit was pointing so took my eye off where I was going! Sorry about the language, I'm generally a non swearer! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4SpcEW3Y-E]YouTube - snow crash.wmv[/ame]
  21. I geuss in that case then you should ask Reg and see what he uses. Can you extend the cable? Side pockets on chainsaw trousers would seem the ideal place.
  22. I don't have that type of camera but I would suggest using a tiny back pack, maybe the smallest camelback and taking the bladder out and usign the pack?
  23. With your experience in the industry I would have thought you had got over that by now, and you don't seem to be lackign in thick skin either. The customer is always right even though they are always wrong. Whats done is done now and its only a tree, take the money and stop worrying.
  24. I get e mails from the money saver website. You get the odd 2 for one meals etc and I mostly just delete it. This month they are offering 5 free days in a gym. So anybody with no intention of paying for a gym cos they run and cycle and work hard etc could take advantage of this. Fitness first are doing it and many of there gyms have pools. The 5 days are consecutive so I might go for free swimming for the next 5 days! I have a gym membership already but they have no pool! So if anyone is still not workign until monday tuesday next week it might be worth looking at.
  25. So are you calling it a 50% reduction? Cut back from neighbours would only require work on the neighbours side not the whole tree? Whatever the percentage, what you've done is a whole crown reduction, consisting of shortening and thinning, and you've done it ok if that was what was required. Maybe what he wanted was complete branch removal of some lower branches over neighbours and leave the rest as is. BTW what are the ladders for?
