  1. Heres 2 slings and plate
  2. No worries. There are issues attached to using a plate when you don't really need it, i.e. the extra risk of side loading the karabiners. As long as you are aware of this possibility and work with in a good safety marging then all will be fine. I keep the plate on there, and attach limb to it, one at a time or multiple occasionally, its not necessary but I like it and it gives yu the option to use it whenever instead of askign for it to be sent up. A sson as limbs get bigger I used two slings and so they go on the plate nicely, then when it gets even bigger I do away with the plate altogether. Just keep an eye on the karabiner and make sure they are correctly alligned, if in doubt don't use it.

    New LDV project.

Just out of interest this next truck has the priveledge of beign the most expensive old style LDV tipper on autotrader today !!!!!! £6700 + vat with 55K on it!!!! I wouldn't go beyond 3K personally, the wholepoint of LDV is they are supposed to be cheap.

    New LDV project.

I'm not getting it, I actually think it may have been sold now, but was interested in comments. I personally would strip off the box, I would cut as much of it away as possibile and replace with various light materials.

Would suit you a treat wouldn't it??

    New LDV project.

Yes indeed!! The project would be to keep the infrastructure the same but make it lighter.
  7. What do you guys think of this one
  8. There was not much on the tv last night........
  9. My mistake, the thermostat is not the same as a thermometer so its not directly connected to the temp gauge!! Same same problem wise though!!
  10. Have a look at post #38. The rigging plate is not really needed, but I keep it on the end of the line and do multiple limbs occasionally, only really have 2-3 slings on the go but that photo just shows all of them on their before we started any work.
  11. Show us some pics of the tranny then?
  12. Thats the whole point though! If the thermostat is stuck closed the temp gauge will show high cos it is connected to the thermostat! The only other reason would be head gasket troubles but that would go into the red slower, so you better hope its not that. Thermostat is a cheap and easy fix.
  13. I want to get one and make a camper, but it would have to be extra long wheel base so back to LDV again me thinks!
  14. No, you want to be able to replace it after its broken so hammer might be overdoing it!! Pair of pliers I think. It had just seized up and wouldn't open/close freely. So we forced it open and re fitted it. Try the bowl of water trick first, and wd40 and anything else to free it up, but if you get it open you need to know that its capable of closing again or you'll have troubles in the winter. If you get it runnign ok I would still suggest fittign a new one.
  15. Ah, I remember now waht we did!! The thermostat was stuck shut so removed it and we broke it to make it open and re fitted it broken but open. The van was fine then no temp troubles and I ran it for a few weeks before gettign round to getting a new one. But that was in summer.
  16. Disconnect the thermostat and see how it seems? Obviousyy if it is overheating you'll not have a way of knowing about it! I did this with mine (LDV not vito) and drove it for ages, but I'm sure that was in the summer and my mechanic friend said make sure its fixed by winter or you'll have trouble! So I'm not suggestign you run it with no thermostat for long but see if it ticks over over and sounds ok, and check the temp just by feel/smell and maybe drive a few miles. If it seems ok then get a new thermostat.
  17. Oh yes, that again! I've still not tried it that way!
  18. Since I've just got some meindle boots, I'm determined to footlock the tail for a bit to get the skills back. My last boots were hopeless for this so I used a pantin a lot. I will still use a pantin when wearing spikes and maybe go back to it once if feel I've mastered the footlocking again (not mastered as such but you know what I mean)
  19. Paper bag over the head would be just as good.
  20. I have tried it, and yes I agree for partial crown lifts or deadwood on one side only its the dogs.
  21. NAh, its for girls and its just an excuse! Are you saying she never does your head in the rest of the year? Vitamin D can help as its produced naturally when there is plenty of sunlight and so lack of it can be a contributing factor to SAD, but in reality lack of sunlight makes us less energetic so doing stuff makes us more tired than usual and tired = moody. Its not rocket science, you just need to get on with it and ignore the moods, or dump her? Not long now though before the sun comes back. It comes back faster than it went away, so in 4 weeks there be a huge difference.
  22. Do you use Rads for the ascent? Or to work from on the way up? Or all day long?
  23. Get the climbing tickets so you can be a better groundie, and the fellign ones when you really need them, if at all, many people dont have 33. Even if you don't become a climber as such, being rescue qualified will open up far many doors than fellign tickets will in the arb world, but if forestry is where you really want go then I guess fellign is better. As far as age goes, I guess that is a problem for either industry but it depends on fitness more than age.
  24. Didn't mean to be picky about the terminology, just thought I'd mention it. I know wht you mean by Drt and my typing is lazy as well!
  25. Just my opinion. I can see the benefit for long descents to save the hitch. Anyway I guess its supposed for working off srt, and that is something I don't see the point of. We have the most perfect system for our industry (Ddrt) and its simple and safe and practical and can be improved, changes etc etc. I don't understand why anyone would want to work off srt all day long? Srt for access, and maybe do a bit on the way up if you want, but Ddrt is such a good system. Anyway just my opinion, thats all, and ,my opinion is usually wrong.
