  1. Great, I see it now, thanks chris! It wasn't clear if that was a the top of the tree or the bottom, now I see thanks. If you have any pictures or diagrams of a rigging set up, I would like to see. As usual with your stuff there is more to it than I can grasp all at once, but I get there eventually! Can I have one to try out on our next big beech take down next week? (weather permitting)
  2. Even if your sayign you are forestry you need to be cis if you are cuttign down forests for construction work. No tree surgery is not forestry and if the end goal of the work is construction then its covered by cis, no getting round it. Once the contruction is done, if you were then plantign trees or trimming them to make the place look nice then that might be exempt. Lesson learned here is: Mark up your stump grinding mate by more than 20%!!!
  3. Me too. I'm always synical of new stuff, that way you get genuine explanations of it (eventually) and then I end up using it all the time! I gave chris and mark soem jip over the hitchclimber at first cos I couldn't get my head round it's purpose, other than it doing exactly the same as I could do without it, eventually I got used to it and use it a lot! Anyway, hubs? I can see plenty of uses in my head but would like the low down on its official use? Connecting multiple anchors? Yes I can see that. I've used a riggign plate for that in the past. I'm thinking it would be for attaching slings mid line on a rigging line to create adjustable balances in the same way as you can do with a prussik attached to the line? Should be more reliable and versatile though?
  4. Yes they can. Theyt can emergency deduct it without tellign you. Mine was dedcuted 30%. You get a tax certificate which is like a money order, it goes towards your tax, so no worries.
  5. I've just (yesterday) registered for CIS because of this. If the work you did was for the construction of something then you should be cis registered. You won't be out of pocket cos the moeny is still yours but has gone towards your tax. I can see that as it was unexpected that it screws your cash flow but its not the end of the world. Get registered and charge a bit mor enext time, also you have to seperate out the labour and then they only deduct 20% from that portion of the invoice not the whole amount. For years I've got away with it but invoicign for tree surgery not felling/stumpgrinding etc (even though I've done lots of site clearance) and we always got paid but more recently some companies have clamped down and even if it is tree surgery if its for the beneift of the constrcution process then you need cis.
  6. Sure but whats it doing? What is its application? Is it an access set up or a climbing set up or a rigging set up or just some stuff connected to some other stuff?
  7. What are we looking at there?
  8. I don't really get waht its for? Its like a riggign plate that sits sideways on the rope? i.e. the main rope goes through it?
  9. Anyone seen or used these yet?
  10. there is no hole for a carabiner to secure the cam, your thumb holds the cam shut-it fits the hand nice and this stuff is all about weight saving, My thinking is that this gear is designed for emergency rock/mountain climbing gear, i.e. its small and lightweight so you can carry it and not use it but its there for emergencies as apposed to our usage where lightweight/size is not really important but ability to back up and foolproof usage is important. We are effectively workign in industrial heights situations and I think our gear needs to be a bit more robust than this nice looking stuff. Id be interested to see how you get on with it though, it all looks good!

    Spikes

The alloy ones are exceptionally good, and then the carbon ones are just that little bit extra good but might not last as long.
  12. I rest my case. You actually think you have come up with something the BNP would be proud of!!!! WTF. How long till this thread gets deleted?
  13. I wasn't suggesting you actually did set on the polish next, my point is victimisation of a group in this manner is a fascist act.
  14. Get a grip guys. Minority bashing is fascist, go to an appropriate nazi website or call up the BNP, maybe you could get rid of the polish next??????

  17. Piece of crap that thing was! So many hours spent sat on side of road waiting for a mog mechanic!! Andy, he's semi retired form bottle top chasing, he hardly has any teeth left!
  18. Only probably?? Here he is lunge posing for dogs.......
  19. Are we allowed dog lunging?
  20. Gerbutt has been struggling with photos so I will help
  21. All I did was copy the image location from yfrog, and paste it in when asked for the url from the "insert image" icon. Because you had hosted the image its easy to put the link in for it rathet than attaching the actual image, if you see what I mean. yfrog will have downsized it already. Good work though, you must have been bored today!
  22. here
  23. Thats the confusing bit, the picture icon that says "insert image" is for links to images already on the web, thats why it asks for a url. You want to attach photos as an attachment which is (as has been said) the paperclip icon in the advanced section.
  24. The other side of the coin is that you don't have service bills, breakdowns, or lack of work to worry about. It worked ok for me for 6 months or so before I bought my own. My only mistake was to buy second hand instead of just getting on with it and buying a new one! If you have your own and it breaks down you lose money far quicker than you gained it!
