Hi, I have been an approved company for around 10 /12 years and I am due for my next inspection in 2010. now I love what we do and have had my company running for 25 years never made a loss, and it has been said I have helped inprove the quality of work and kit in my area, where some lead others follow which is no bad thing, I do not belive that being approved has been a factor in that it has always been my drive that has paved the way for us. I do not belive that being approved will help you win the better jobs as you see them as being approved puts your costs UP!!!! Are you sure the jobs you are lossing are money makers, as I have always belived the small jobs make the money, as you are in and out fast, can fit a few together, less wear anf tear on your kit, your body and your men etc. My advice for what it is worth is keep it small look at every cost within your company change things to reduce the running costs and make more profit. IT HAS WORKED FOR ME - As for my re-assessment dont think i will be doing it. Regards Keven
  2. Ring Kevin Moore at bts would think he may have it or get it for you.
  3. Not read all post but we have a works order and payment agreement that we use for clients, this will hold up if you want to go the legel way, just means you have a signed agreement that they agree to the written quote and will pay with in the agreed time. Would be glad to send this to you just in case they is a next time Would say they got a bloody cheap job was it 3 men for a day, they are taking the p!!!!!!!! trying to get you to do the extra. I do agree if all other avenues fail then logs and chipping on the drive works. Cheers Keven .

  6. Well I am pleased to see so much interest in my post, lots of different views. Think the tree expert was low on his costing has he run a tree company see that it has been said he may be a tree officer but £630 was very high but as others have said taking this program out for now ; you quote and its a 1; Yes please 2; No thank you 3; Can you do it cheaper (seem to hear this time after time at the moment) I like most of you who have been in the game for a while have hunderds of clints over the years, some jobs are to cheap some or to high but it all go's into one pot at the end of the day. Seen this lorry up at my childrens school as I am in the area, all of that type have lorries and chippers like it, they know if they turn up with sign written clean and tidy lorry, people will think they are all legal etc. What he looks like does not worry me as I have always had tidy smart sign written lorries, tidy lads, printed shirts etc, I know some guys think it is not inportant and it is the quality of work that matters, I agree with the work issue but you could not be more wrong about what you all look like when you or your staff turn up like this day and age. All you who know me know what a fussy sod I am but 25 years this year some thing works. Going back to charging for works who out there has sent money back to a client after the job was completed as you fell you charged to much, when you got the job done quickerm then expected. Thanks for all the input on this one. Regards Keven

  14. Hi Dean Got into this one late, That body takes me back to 1980 just been enployed by London borough of Bexley, and I was with the chargehand all day every day and we had a tranist luton with all the gear in it. Spot on for ropes hanging ,sews were on the shelf above the cab, could fit a stump grinder in ther, well you could if had one" dug every thing out by hand then" just did it all, as we didi not have chippers then all debis loaded on to a carged road runner and cut up good old days.? Still believe that is a good way to run, cant stand every team having A LORRY AND CHIPPER TO BLOODY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!. Cheers wattie

Insurance no B*****Y way would not cover it act of god and all that, next door neighbour got all his damaged covered, shed ,fence etc etc, dont seem right does it. It wasn't cheap eirther felt sorry for her being an old client as well, not only that they had a fire six years ago in the house and the insureance did not cover that eirther, Not sure I should say lightning does not STRIKE twice well did form her in a way.
