Just remembered another stange place - a club for those who like to go for the natural look ( Sorry no photos) just glad they did not instead I had the same dress code!!!!!!!!!!! Regards Wattie
  2. After going to meet a client today in a place just mins from my yard and always wondered about. I got my first look at a strange but I must say so interesting and different it has to be one of the strangest places I have been asked to work. I was told that it was for a bunch of strange buggers dressing up and playing at being a cowboy, well it opened my eyes ! yes they do dress up but all have to have dress from the 1800s and all the shops , jail hotel are as close as the real thing as you can get. Have a look at there web site, sorry did not get photos today but will at some point. http://www.laredo.org.uk

    crews in london

Think City's main deport is in brixton area. not sure about gristwood but think they have croydon contact so its a good bet its there somewhere. Could also consider connick.
  8. Ditto above, However easy to say lads when we were not there. I would say Tana does not look old enough to have been climbing in 87, I brought down large trees if very difficult conductions as many of you must have where ever possible aviod damage to your clients property which incleeds other plants trees and hedges, Think some of my clients would have been truely peed off and may never call me back. Seems it was priced wrong by your mate.
  9. We win so much work from calls from yellow pages and yell. I have scaled down the size of ads and money I spend but it works if you have a good ad with all the right info. I am thinking of dropping my thomson local ads. The internet will take over one day for sure but I belive they is still a place for yellow pages in my area, I understand where steve is coming from as he is in suffock where I hear they are around 60 companies advertising where they are two major town/citys Ipwich and Norwich and stunning landscape between the two and down into Essex. But South East London the money bits are wall to wall trees and property loads of work.

    Dust Masks

Thanks Tree yid Have a good local bike shop will have a look. Wattie
  11. Agree with above reduce weight and brace. Just to add I have seen larger tree like this in the states where thay have also bolt braced through the main stem I know it meens drilling through live wood etc but rather do that then lose a tree of this inportance. I know we do not seem to do this much here any more but it has its place when required now and again, but it may be something to consider seemed to work well on the trees I have looked at out there.
  12. No shirts this early as well, not even had my breakfast, Still chap in cap and teeshirt looks the part. I hate poplar like them!
  13. We are a Arb approved company based just outside Dartford Kent and due to being let down we required short team help in August as I am away on holiday. I am looking for a free lance or someone who has time free or off at the beginning of Aug. What i would like is eirther; (A) Climber with lots of years under they belts older the better, with all reavent tickets and must have a per 97 D/L, a non smoker, honest person who will be able to fit in with a smalll mixed group of guys. Who is able to drive a 6.2 ton tipper towing eirther a six or nine inch chipper; must be used to dealing with clients paperwork payments etc You will be expected to interact with my office staff on a day to day basis and be flexable when it comes to time and working hours. We have a crane job taking down a Large Ash and have a large Larch with butt rot to take down for the N. Trust in the first few days but have this covered by my best mate and a mixure of his and my own man but would bring you in on this works to get to know everyone. However he can not help me out on my 2nd week away so that the main time I need help We pride ourselves on the the high standard of customer care and work we carry out and the image of the company including the clean and tidy neture of my staff and lorries which i will expect to be maintained while I am away. We have many long standing regular clients of which some you will be carring out work for in this time and they expect more the the norm. (B) If not a climber then a groundsman but would have to fit in with what is stated above. I know it is short notice but I throught it worth a try. I would be very pleased to hear from anyone interested eirther with a PM or by phone 07720-451919. The lorry is very similar to the one for sale on this forum but it it an 04 so not a heap of rubbish to drive. Do you think you can fit the bill. Thank you for taking time to read this. Regards Keven Watt Quality tree care.

    Dust Masks

Can anyone help with advice on dust masks, dont often carry out work on London planes this time of year talk my clients into waiting, no leaves no dust no coughing your guts up!!!!!!!!! So have massive Plane to prune in summer holiday (Private School) and want decent marks for myself and lads, have the silly white things but do not think they are good enough. Has anyone brought better and from where photos would be great if possible. Thanks
  17. Thanks Mac very keen on my company logos all trucks pick up, lads work wear have it etc - good for image and good for company profile I can asure all that it brings in work - Get your trucks written boys Cheers Wattie
  18. Had one of these once good truck, bear metel spray should last an age. Here is one of my lorrys was all gray when i brought it off my mate and had it sprayed white and written I think its peachyyyyyyyyyyy
  19. No worries see what i can do
  20. Ring noddy at treeworker the backaline comes in a small size, all the climbers i have employed over the past years have changed to them as they are just right for the job. Lovely big padded lower back section. Also upper and leg loops can be changed if one wears or is damaged without replaceing the whole belt. Hope this helps.
  21. Hi Sussex body bilders have done three for me over the past ten years. I have one for sale on this forum so you can see the type of body he does. They where about 5k then however they are a bigger lorry then the cabstar. Know he does ring me when things are quite for him offering deals, might be worth a call. Let me know as it will take me a day or so to get the number for you. Regards Wattie Keven Watt quality tree care
  22. Not sure of this van is it transit 3.5ton size! If so its not want it can pull but how long will it pull a machine which is to heavy on a day to day basis, with a load of woodchip or logs. Think you would be best to stick to a machine up to 1000kg only if you passed your driving test before oct 97 I think or around that time. When did you pass your driving test as i am sure you know that will affect the weight you can tow (boring i know) What chipper do you have or are you looking for the right machine. Regards Wattie
  23. Hi Kev, As a tree company owner it is one of cost, cost and more cost as employees never seem to want to fund the trainning even when it is there ticket. The course and assement the time off with wages paid the loss of earnings while staff member wis away I could go on and then afterall this and three or four course down the line and £1000s spent they off down the road for an extra £10 a day because they have the tickets you have paid for. So a grant system would be an idea not sure who would cover it but a goverment system would be a step forward. You know what i do Kev with your advice a couple of years ago with the colective agreement.(Ask Kev) My main beef however is that more inportance has been put on having nptc etc and not being qualified. PS; can your next text be a pleasent one!!!!!!!!!!!! Regards Kev Watt
  24. How about inviting the landscaper to a site meet and explan the problems he has caused with the works. Do you know if the company owner was on site or it was his lads, Larger or smaller company! If he tells you to pi............ off then explan that the tree is covered and you will report it.
