  3. Hi frank, I use freelance climbers and it is very very few that have they own insurance, they all seem to want to work of of ours, funny that. They do not desive MUCH higher rate just a higher rate, think they are pricing themself out of the market in these hard times. Companies are having cut prices to win work, so when do the freelancer's cut they rate!!!!!!!!!!!! Regards Wattie

  10. Dont like 110's that much to be honest, Dont need child seats kids between 12 and 15 years old and we do not all travel together all the time as both have own home so its odd school runsand odd days out to be honest. Was thinking of 90 hard top no seats and keeping the people carrier and sale pick up both would perfer not to have two cars. Partner has own car anyway, think kids would be fighting to get in landy well the boys anyway. Thanks Wattie
  11. Hi All land rover fans, which to be honest was never my thing. Need to find out if any of you guys have any ideas and photos that would help me. 1; Want a multi tasking bit of kit- Newish defender 90 but as not a harded land rover man I will have extras, alloy's air con Ect so going to be a nice one. 2; Going to be much more hands on as i reduced the size of company two years ago eg on site small team ect ; now here is the thing 3; I Have two kiddies and partner has two kiddies well kiddies rangeing between 12 and 15, so need the sits when we all go out but want to have a small amont of gear in for work. 4; I am a fussy F!!!!!!!!!!!er want to have something to hold my gear in which can be removed easy looks the nuts but dont want standard tool safe site box type of thing, dont want the landy smelling of fuel and have oil and crap spoiling the back. So some kind of box and hanging storeage system would be great. Are you getting my drift - YES I KNOW AS I SAID FUSSY. So has anyone made or had made somthing that woulkd suit and fit in with my life style. See partner loves um and I can get rid of two cars- being pick up and seven seater people carrier makes sence Look forward to see phots if possible Thanks Kev Watt (Wattie)
  12. Hi Mick, sorry mate and the bloody sec was as we talked about just to cut back to clear street lamp, would like to see to to growing points if possible areond fenceline or just back past line. Thanks Kev.

  13. Hi All, not been on for ages, As an old fart back in the dark ages and did not have work strops and no pussicks just three knot system so always used both ends to get up and then mainly one end to move around the tree two ends were very usfull moving from tree to tree. However now what seems a bloody waste to me is most guys buy a rope with one eye splice say on a 35mt climbing rope and climb only using a small amount of rope that suffers all the wear and tear. I have inspected ropes that are being replaced where a major part of the rope is in very good order, why not buy rope with two eyes and stagger the use. A little away from the post but kind of ties in. I also think as one of the other post said he climbs with two ropes or both ends, think this can be a quicker way to get into the canopy as once again see lads using landyards to clip in then take main line out then throw main line a few feet above them, then unclip then climb, then clip in YOU GET THE IDEA LOOOG WINDED!!!!!!!!!!!! mainly new climbers that seem to suffer think it is a conferdence thing. Away being boring now so must dash. Cheers Wattie
  14. Hi Mick, As you said not seen on for a while, I am having a look!!!!!!!!!! before work.Job details will be texted to you today thanks Kev

  15. Thank you - As a kit from finland, had three guys put it up in a day, Desided on the oak stain instead of a solid as I felt it fitted in. A tree house would be cool but what a cool set up with the tailer very nice, could see my self sitting under that down on the big sur. Regards wattie

  22. Hi To be honest yellow pages has been a massive help to. We have been busy since well to be honest 1987 storm and hardly ever been quite. I am thinking of dropping out of the thomsons to be honest. As far as Yell.com I am in it it is not a bad price £20 a week and as clients seem to be using the internet more and more to find companies I think it is worth it. I have reduce the size and areas we cover as i have reduced the size of my company but would never pull out of Yellow pages. Regards Wattie
  23. Hi all. A little advice please I know that I will have lots of different ideas and may be it would be for the older climbers to pass on there ideas!!!!!!!! As some of you might know I have been in the game for 30 years come 2009 and was climbing from the age of 17 until the age of 37/38, however as the company grow the climbing went on the back burner and staff levels grow and I need to be out quoting more and more. However I have reduced the size of the company over the last year and getting back into the saddle. Dont get me wrong I am not an old fart or over weight and quite fit and can work along side the younger guys and out climb some of them, its about whats in the tank from 30 years in the game. Here is my sight issue I have not used some of the new ropes and climbing systems that my lads have had over the last few years, New ropes lock jacks etc etc. Would like to get away with pussick loops. Have a nice harness but not sure what rope and system to use would like to make it a bit easier to get about the tree like the art stuff but want to know if it would suit. Thinking of going to bentley and have tried to talk to noddy but we keep missing each other. Like the look of the XTC blaze and not a lover of New England which i have at the moment. Your advice and photos of set up's would be great. Regards Wattie.
  24. Went to a day in Canterbury a few years back. Was very good to be honest well run lots to see and talk over. If you can and have the time just go along.
