  1. Could be the sycamore leaf blotch miner. The damage, looks similar. Not totally sure though. Must be a massive population of the little leaf munchers. Who else has seen these whilst out and about?
  2. I think this is Phellinus irniarus, I found it at the end of May growing on a large hazell stool in Swallowcliffe, Wiltshire. I was really pleased to see it when it was active and fresh.
  3. Any other information on the mites? are they the gall forming mites? Can any one point me in the right direction on this one or recommend a good insect pest resource? I really should get a book on insect pests.
  4. Try and borrow a saw, helmet and trousers for the test then when you get a job get your boss to buy you your PPE.
  5. I have seen one for sale at J and G's in Chippenham before.
  6. I've had my tiroll fighters for nearly a year and have climbed in them almost every day. They are great, really comfy and because I've been good and waxed them every now and again there not looking worn out at all. I think they could do with a more lively rubber on the sole but then I guess they would wear out quicker. Tirol fighters are top boots.
  7. Nearly got the hang of this.
  8. Here are some photos from this year. Mike in the Beech, me in the Wellingtonia, Kieran next to the Cypresses and in the Oak.
  9. Here are some photos from last year.
  10. Nice stitching!
  11. Its the Stock Gaylard Oak fair this Saturday. Its a Great event held in a beutifull deer park. There is always loads of stuff going on with loads of green woodworking, turning, planking, fencing, charcoaling, Hog roasts, cider, tree climbing, old machinery and axe men. Rumour is they are going to fell a big oak using axes and a two man saw, then break it up and give it to the exhibitors to make things from. Its really great and very family friendly. The Estate is near Stalbridge in Dorset. I am nothing to do with the event or the estate, I just like the event. Its got a good vibe man!
  12. Didnt see that Nick had done it already. Whoops.
  13. Sorry. I have worked out how to attach files now, here it is.
  14. Thats what i was thinking
  15. Eat more eggs
  16. My workmate pointed out that all the sycamores along the road we were on had brown leaves. On smaller trees all the leaves were brown and dry, on larger trees the tops seemed uneffected. It looks like insect damage (sawfly?) but we couldn't find any on the leaves. Hundreds of trees have been effected along this road and my workmate said he had seen sycamores likie this along the cannal to. What do you think is causing this? Are there sycamores in your areas that are being affected? Here is an image of some leaves. They are scanned so the colour is a bit off.
  17. Not a motor biker more into the pedal ones but the A47 Rhaeder to Aberystwyth is a beautiful road that winds along mountain sides for miles and miles. You could then head up to Mac to link with Mr Eds' suggestion. Beautiful part of the world.
  18. I reckon a longer sling would work better.
  19. Ive been meaning to get personal injuries insurance to. Any Companies come with recomendations ?
  20. I use a scwabish on my lanyard. Dont find any problems with using it choked in the single line application.
  21. DEFRA Central science Lab can test it for you or you can get your own phytothera testing kit that is similar to a pregnancy test but wont give you any information on species.
  22. Gives you heart rot:001_smile:
  23. I would be up for coming along, sounds like fun.
