  1. I know, I have a pair but they take a hammering on the floor so I'm after good ground worker boots that can be used when I'm not climbing. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. Yeah, I know, there are already dozens of threads on boots but; I've tried the Stein phantoms and the Andrews boots and I find the back above the Achilles splits. When it's dry it rubs and digs in to the ankle. Not so bad when it's wet (sweat) but by that stage it's pretty sore. I've also had two pairs of Meindles, which I love, but I spend more time on the ground now so I'm after a good solid all rounder, money no option. Looking at both the pfanner boots and the Haix. Anybody? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. I have a brand new Holden Colorado off the shop floor. Gutless, wallowy, blew clouds of white smoke out of it with not even 15,000kms on the clock, stalls way too easily with absolutely no warning, tows woefully. In comparison, the ssangyong was a much nicer drive. The downsides were a smaller tray, smaller interior and smaller drivers space. Other than that, it towed better, cornered better, drive nicer and, for several thousand less than the 2wd Colorado you could get the 4wd ssangyong ute. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  5. Sorry, THATS the Rexton. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Couple more. The Tivoli and the Rexton. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  8. This is our one at work. The main supplier for all of NZ is around the corner so I'll get a few shots from there. They drive well for a ute as far as get up and go but I wouldn't pull anything big with them. They are only a lightweight ute. Never really had much go wrong with ours although they're a little plasticky inside. Don't know how'd they'd fair after 100 miles though. Small inside too. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Ian, down in Turangi. Pass on my regards to him. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. Currently around 45 jobs advertised on trademe scattered country wide. Plenty in Auckland, another in Napier, a couple in Tauranga and surrounds, New Plymouth and Nelson. The last 4 would be my pick. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Both Asplundh and Treescape. Foremen at Asplundh and Project Managers at Treescape. He left the scape to buy in to Treesafe I believe. Good move too he's a smart cookie. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Used to work with Dean Hawkins. Couldn't wish for a better manager and he's an awesome guy as well. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. Sounds like your either with the tree raper or Treesafe? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. 30 minutes on a quiet Sunday maybe but hit rush hour and it could be two hours, 4 if there's a crash. I'll say it again; check on trademe and seek for jobs and where they are and if it were me, I'd stay the hell out of Auckland. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Expensive housing, serious traffic issues and, in the end, just another big city. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. In New Zealand they use peanut butter on bait stations for runs to see if there are rats in the area before traps are set. Seems to be a favourite. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. Depends who you work for and what part of the industry you get in to. Have a look at http://www.trademe.co.nz under jobs/arborist. It'll give you an idea of the jobs available and rough wages. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Sorry, just read your reply. I'd still suggest Napier (fantastic weather, good little city/town, plenty to do for the outdoorsy type and shopper alike), Tauranga, which is a larger, more modern version of Napier (Mt Maunganui is nice) or Welly. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. Depends who you work for and the cost of living is ridiculous. Many forms in much cheaper regions offer the same rate, less traffic, cheaper housing etc. depends what you want to do with your time off. Auckland is just another big city with poor roading and lots of chain stores. Personally, I'd look more at Napier, Tauranga, Wellington or the South Island if you like the great outdoors. If you really like the big city life then expect the living costs of the 5th most expensive city in the world. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. I just used to take mine to a computer techy type. Cost me $80 or 40 quid to get all the rubbish removed, virus' sorted and a proper clean out. I had and still have good antivirus but there's always one that will get around it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. The Kriegers are probably the hardest wearing chainsaw pants I've ever used. I've spent today bashing through blackberry neck high and the brambles don't snag at all. I have two pairs around two years old and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. How times of changed from my school years. I went to school in the 70s and 80s and had a lot of friends from all races and religions including Islam. Never once came across anything like the above. Only good food and good friends. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. I used the shavette once and I'll try again when I have time and patience. I also love a good straight blade shave (head and face) when I'm in the US as a treat. Like a pamper session for men, hot towels, shave oil etc. Honestly, invest in some decent cream and a brush and you won't know yourself. Someone mentioned proraso earlier in the thread which gets heaps of good reviews and there's several other top notch creams and balms. Personally I use Taylor of old bond street but there are several good ones. They last a good while so not so expensive in the long run. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. I have a shavette I was going to practice with but sliced myself open first time is used it so went back to the double edge safety. How long did it take you to master using the straight edge? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Make sure you don't scrimp on the brush, cream and a decent exfoliate along with balm. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
