  1. I've got to agree Lee. In the "OLD" days i had less money, could not borrow anything, and was far happier. Simple things in life are often the best! Back to the thread. You do have to saviour the moments. I'm in my thirties and have previously never thought about the speed life goes by, until my son arrived. It's frighting how fast he's growing up:scared1:
  2. The way your going Nick, you'll soon be the most qualified person on Arbtalk. Well done mate.
  3. Nice Bedford Mike. You got yourself a right bargain. You can't beat old vehicle for working on.
  4. I've got to agree with the others. When i shoot i take the meat. If i can't use it, someone else always can. Shoot for sport by all means, but respect the game. If its vermin, fine, but otherwise, don't waste perfectly good food. You wouldn't expect to hear people on this site burning good firewood in an open field to get rid of it, just because they haven't got a fire in their house!
  5. Dean, Do you just shoot shotguns, or have you firearms as well?
  6. I'm only a recent member, but Arbtalk is great for exchanging info, opinions, equipment reviews and sourcing, etc. I will be looking forward to being here for the 2nd aniversary:001_smile:
  7. Nice bit of kit. Is there a web page for the specialist company? Unfortunately with my old series 2 Landy, my guns have to go in a travel case, chained to the body. Not ideal but workable. Which draw does the game go in? or is there going to be an add-on in the future:001_tongue:
  8. Dean, I've not yet mastered normal English.
  9. I thought my sense of humour was strange!
  10. Ladders have there place. I use them if the circumstances benefit from them. No equipment should be ruled out by prejudice, all equipment has its place!
  11. There vids are unbelievable:laugh1: Quite different to Reg's!!
  12. I saw this earlier. Not an expert, but don't think I would use my chainsaw bar as a lever. If these guys were working on my site, i'd kick them straight off. No-one at all seems to know what there doing. Check out the climber struggling to get down, and then looking like he requires hospital treatment.
  13. [Andy, they're only for light entertainment mate, anything else would have to be far better structured and explained. I hear Beranek is working on a series of instructional DVDs, hopefully one of our retailers will jump on it and make them available for us all. Reg, I wasn't looking for an instructional vid, (though i would of course be interested in watching one). I was just saying that it would also be interesting to see some footage of you rigging in your vids. People use different methods, and as Arbtalk shows, any exchange of working methods can benefit everone. An example was in your ash tree vid, with the floating pully system. In any case, keep posting the vids, and i'll keep watching them. Its a pleasure to see you work:thumbup1:
  14. I have been following this thread with interest. Different people have different ideas as to where to carry there first aid equipment, and what type is required. However, all of us are unanimous in wanting to be able to self treat or assist another, to save life and limb! First aid equipment is important, but it is useless without knowledge. Many first aid courses only cover basic first aid, such as minor wounds/ resuscitation/ breaks, etc. Unless the course is military run, the instructors are unlikely to want to teach techniques such as torniques etc for fear of being sued when someone applies it wrong or in the wrong circumstances. These courses are important but the majority of people on arbtalk work in a very hazardous environments, where severe injuries can occur! I have dealt with many casualties, and in severe cases it is knowledge, speed and technique which saves lives. In my opinion, due to the type of injuries that can be sustained with saw, chippers, or general machinery, people in this business could definitely benefit from battlefield first aid. There are lots of ex-forces members. Your opinions?
  15. Nice work Reg. Pleasure to watch as always. I have seen a few vids from you now, and have enjoyed watching the tree removals. However, as a part timer, it would be interesting for me to see you rigging from the start of the job. Have you thought of doing a vid covering that aspect? I am sure i'm not the only one who would be interested in that.
  16. I agree with you Dean. First aid should be about improvisation. But, in a serious situation, you can't beat having the proper equipment to hand. I've carried out first aid many times on casualties, ranging from minor to serious. I have used many items lying about to assist me, but these items will never do the job as effectively as one that is designed for purpose.
  17. Reality often is!
  18. Nice bit of kit Ed. Are you going to post some pics once its signwritten. It would be nice to see the finished product.
  19. At these times any employment is a plus! Anyway, hard work never killed anyone. (well almost!)
  20. What would I do with all that wood:001_tongue:
  21. You can't beet the handy Collins in Hardback.
  22. Try this one for a change. When i first saw this i couldn't believe it. Just goes to show you what can be done when you put your mind to it. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxu9oQqiaK8[/ame]
  23. Thanks for providing some info relating to the f64. Could i just ask you to explain the level winder? Also i appreciate the info relating to pto winches, but, what would your opinions be to fitting a hydraulic winch to the unimog?
