What machine you running that on John as been looking at that exact model, how do you find it being able to sweep both ways through thick bramble and scrub.

Stem injection works very well on killing them standing then cut down and burn on the stumps in a years time once dryed out. Watch the smoke on green material as it contains arsenic and can have some interesting side affects apparently. -
Where abouts in country are you as I might just be selling a 10x5 ifor tipper with Ali planking chip box on it soon.

Handy little addition to the digger arsenal turned up yesterday, nice strong hardox rake with grab pockets to help speed up tidying a site.

Will the digger lift the chipper? If so get a trailer both will fit on and use the digger to load the chipper. If you start fitting the chipper on the front then a crane to the rear your going to seriously eat into your carrying capacity before being overloaded.

Yeh that's the one I came up with with them when we had that trailer built Not sure if they have them in full prediction yet but definitely works well.

At the moment the only company I can see who offer a vtm on a small head is Seppi but I'm guessing it's not a complicated thing to ask for other manufacturers to add in construction, I don't like the look of the Seppi as the motor is just purched on top and looks a bit vulnerable. The FAE looks incredibly bulky compared to some but the niubo seems to be getting favorable reviews and looks well built. Just made this up for the digger from a old Boughton I've had sat in the shed for years and first test in the yard had it pulling some big logs with no problems and from what I could tell very little pull to the hitch.

I've run fixed carbide on tractor mounted mulchers but I've had a few people say and probably rightly that the size machine we are running won't cope with fixed teeth as takes a lot more power. If I was going 8ton class I'd definitely go solid but don't think a 2.6 will be up to it even going steady

How much will the type of flail fitted affect the performance and finish as it looks like he has v typ as apposed to whale tail typ

@lpg Eddie Do you think this will cover grabs both fixed and swinging for chipper feeding etc. I'm wondering how this longterm could play out for harvesters and forwarders as at the moment they don't require anything like your talking about. Will the forestry machines continue to be overlooked and will the likes of our botex come under scrutiny as it spends a fair amount of time in forestry but also on site collecting timber which is the same for our digger.

That was exactly the point I stepped up from a quad chip to a st8 then again to a bandit 90xp, sat up a tree watching staff que up while the chipper worked its arse off. A bigger machine can mean less run time so lower running costs, we use a lot less fuel in a 85hp than a 3pot 35hp for the same volume of chip produced.
