  3. It's just the 30ft log with about 8ft of epicormic but its slightly on the back lean and against a corner back fence, it's been a washing line post for possible 60years as well lol... But putting this up I'm gonna go back and have another look I hate getting beat grrrr

  6. It's just took us 2 and a half hours for about 8 cows luck as it the last one had a calf in the field so they both came back to the fence but they sure can hide for a big animal .. Would defiantly predator a run for its alien ass!
  7. Some phones up about cows in the wood...‘ What do you think I am John Wayne ’ I need to go on a course for this I think And there's more It's a stand off Eventually got em all back in the field … but darn it them Cows is sneaky!
  8. After all this I might go and have another look lol ... It's not a tall tree it's just log that somebody else as thought ... Sack that and put a stupid price in
  9. This is the crux of the matter really isn't it ...if the client can afford us to hire a crane and trust me this would of had to be a big crane to go over a tall terrace property to the back of the garden providing the road and services could take the weight of the vehicle every tree is doable ... but I don't think that's gonna happen this time ... I was actually thinking of scaffold then I slapped my face laughed and went home :-) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. If you can get down to Salford matey yer welcome treequip lol Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Can't get a mewp in and crane not a option on a £500 budget .. And nothing to hang the saw off just yer harness don't get me wrong I've had a 660 on my harness once with a 3ft bar .... Didn't like it lol Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. I class myself as a proud and capable arborist with 20yrs experience and rarely turn down work for what ever the reason and I also thrive on a a climb that can scare the bejesus out of me but I come a cross a dirty great big pop last week with over a 4ft diameter ... Now for those of you that haven't met me I'm just over 5ft tall and the thought of dangling the 084 of me didn't sound like fun and the concrete garage only 15ft from the tree didn't thrill me either so I turned and run ...and i will fight again another day Anyone else had to do similar and what's yer reason Don't we won't laugh !
  13. Should of got a picture of the shape but all In all it looks like an Ilex bark and shape but its not lol

  15. I'm using dewalt fingerless I have contact dermatitis (wood, oil, possibly latex) these last are comfy and not to expensive at 17 quid as for not wearing gloves I didn't for years but after seeing you hands deteriorate you learn to protect yourself, you just need to find the gloves that suit you

  17. Just gonna add to the thread to see if anyone got some more decent ideas about all of our rowans jossing it here's adjust a few I've took over the couple of weeks. Forget about drought, and stakes and ties not being remove the trees are die in groups of sometimes hole woods, roads and estates even being affected first signs are cracking bark leading to central canopy collapsing and eventually roots rotting and the tree falls over in the wind. I've had to go inspect 3 or more rowans falling over on the same estate due to the same pathogen Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Make sure you've turned the wifi off cause that drains the battery on my go-pro hd3 like I'm running the car off it
  19. Yep the wire core isn't infallible but neither are boots, trousers, visors on helmets give em a big enough saw or a good wallop they will cut that said and done I can assure you that a wire core strop is more of a crunch for a saw than a couple of ropes!
  20. I use mine a lot since I near cut through my strop due to a kick back whilst logging down a conifer .. If I'd of fell I would of been kebabed on to of a fence post ...never logged down again without it !
