  5. With the v-rig setup can you move freely from one cambium saver to the next of do you always sit in the middle of the two. Also does it take longer to move everywhere as you have 4 lengths of rope to pull instead of 2 ? I had a hitch climber but i found it held my friction cord too close to my static line.......I always got rope burn on my hands. Did anyone else find this or know of a way to avoid it?
  6. As you can see the holy church has obviously touched a place in Tony's heart. Praise the lord brother...................
  7. Hello, Have been seeing this an awful lot on the forum recently due to the current climate but didn't think it would happen to me. Anyway im an experienced climber with all relevant tickets, have also got my RFS Cert Arb. I have over 1 years managerial experience in running tree gangs so am pretty reliable when it comes to responsibilities. Will consider going subie - climber if I have to as I have all my own saws and kit. you can PM me if you have or know of anything or ring me on 07846936486 nice one
  8. Use a chainsaw and then power plane it. That would be the cheapest way Nick.
  9. Good link Tim. If it has shown signs of working why are we not trying it out on our street trees? It's great how tree care is reaching new hights.
  10. Nice...... Did you make any recommendations to the estate managemen? What would you do if it was your tree? 1.fence off the area to remove any targets 2.reduce the limb 3.remove the limb (causing a massive wound on the tree) 4.introduce bracing (although you could say its a bit late for that) The fact that the gap is there would suggest it is moving faster than the tree can fill the gap with new shoots. Depending on when it happened of coarse.
  11. The concept that as a trees roots increase in mass and weight the soil within the root ball becomes compacted, as the tree ages the soil becomes devoid of useful nutrients and minerals so the no longer needed tap root dies back to add locked up nutrients to the soil and to create space for airation. that was something I hadn't discussed in great detail. Nice to meet you guys
  12. Im in on wednesday. Cant turn down an offer of free food.
  13. This is something that the company I work for is getting into. Its a good idea but I find some aspects of the idea very limiting. The way I can see it been used positivley is that, if a tree you are removing has got 400 kg of carbon stored then yoy could plan to plant x amount of trees containing 500 kg of carbon. This would leave a positive carbon signature as well as a positive environmental signature. It will be interesting to see how important this kind of information will be in the future.
  14. nice pics John. Looks worth a visit. Wonder who looks after their trees, lucky bugger
  15. Seriously Nick. You could try R Bell tree services. 07818418447.
  16. I Would employ you but you'd have to get a hair cut first mate.
  17. Dam those trees that have a tendancy to grow leaves

I'd never seen Vietnamese men blow up in such a controlled fashion. Good stuff............. Dr Manhatten would be good to have on a tree gang. 'Oi....Manhatten....Shrink that tree...'
  19. I'll write you an answer but I you pass i'll have my name on the certificate.
  20. All I know is that u will need 6 people at least but the cost is still fairly high.
  21. What about the "would you anchor off it" test......
  22. I reckon 2 - 5 might fail in 12 months. Over time more would fail but in a year the figure would be low IMO.
  23. Sounds like the right way to me.
  24. still waiting for my ropebag. cant wait. Exactly what i need at the moment ( too many ropes)
