  1. Thanks for all the replies. Due to storage the folding shoot is useful and the setup really didn't equate to a huge effort. Greenmech are supplying an extended defector to compensate for the distance to the truck and hopefully improve acuracy. The weight of the forst put me off and I like the added feature of the turntable. I didn't really consider the tw as it's not been out as long and really feels like tw are trying to match the gm (don't take my word I haven't used the tw) I would say for those considering that the hitch is disturbingly easy to lift off and the blades are a bit of a hassle to change. I'm sure it could have been simplified. Will report back if I find and problems. So far it's been very efficient.
  2. Hi All I have a large Douglous fir stem with poor acess it will have to be milled on site. I feel it would be a great waste to burn it all. I guess my question is what kind of market for the timber is there and what sizes would be most useful? Many thanks In advance. Jon
  3. Calling all quadchip owners and users. I'm currently thinking of upgrading my old entech/timberwolf 150 not that it's knackered. I'm hoping the quad-chip will be a fairly significant improvement and would like peoples opinions and advise. Thanks in advance.

  5. Transit will always be cheaper to fuel and run (parts are way cheaper and often on the shelf). It also has a lot mover room in the cab. Canter is more powerful and has a 3.5 tonne two weight. That's my two pence. I also find the canter is more truck like to drive.
  6. Hi to all I run a small, professional, local business and from time to time I'm in need of a groundsman/climber to join me as part of a 2 or 3 man team. I'm not looking for a high end experienced climber just someone with basic tickets who is hard working keen to learn and reliable.   7. I dont want to jump on either side of the argument. I would just like to ask how anyone can say HGV is not a big deal? Its a theory test and two practicals (assuming you want to tow more than 750kg) this will cost your around 2k plus time off. Also unless you want to rely on the "grey area" (that is that you dont need CPC if you are using the vehicle for tasks other than delivering i.e. getting to or form site) you will need CPC. You will also need to have the checks carried regularly on the vehicle and importantly hold and operators licence. I would like to add that I run a small business and hold a full HGV cat C licence. I run a transit. Good luck getting an operators licence for a driveway. Lol
  8. Sorry but why where they all up there? I'd be worried about those bolts for the last 60foot imagine if one was a bit rusty and gave way when he was clipped to it. Arran's has the right idea I think I'd learn to base jump probably safer than climbing down.

  11. IMO if your a larger companies running various different vehicles you should be able to meet regulations ie you've got yard OL not too hard, big job big truck small job small truck. Now I'm not saying its easy. My situation: transit on the drive (just), no yard so no chance of an OL let alone space for the larger truck. I don't have a car and I have worked hard to build by business but work can vary and I can't justify the rent on a yard as I just wouldn't use it enough. I do my best not to overload but sometimes it's just very hard to avoid and what would I do when my truck was in for it's regular checks. I think this is systemic problem eventually going back to competition and prices but I agree if transit etc where 4500ks it would make thinks safer and easier for us all.

  13. If you want a pick up I would recommend the current Isuzu tough considerably better fuel economy than any other model and joint best tow weight 3000kgs. Also they are competitively priced.

  15. At last year at 22 I had a ranger wildtrak 06 NFU direct (not the local office) just under a grand. They may have changed there policies now though.
  16. I know exactly what you mean about power lines. Find myself double checking everything even things irrelevant to the lines. Great vid very smooth and controlled.
  17. I have it and tayon both very similar but IMO bule tongue wins hands down as its much lower strech I also prefer the colour as unlike the green tachyon I can actually see it in ivy.
  18. Thanks for all the responses. If your interested I bought and fiitted the new 'fix kit' for the old carb and then returned it to the saw. Problem fixed . Bad news is it seems that the brand new, nearly £95 including the vat, carb had a manufacturing fualt. At that price you don't expect to get a faulty product resulting in a lot of wasted time and effort. Oh well fixed now thanks for all the help.

  22. Thanks I've tried it already. Tbh it's not really very cold here today I was out playing with it earlier and it's exactly the same. When I got it back from the shop 2nd time the idle was again high. Before anyone says it no I haven't ajusted the idle too low the chain was spinning so fast on idle I could have cut wood with it.
  23. As the title suggests my 200t won't idle properly. It's probably had about 18 months use and the carb failed (irritating but not unusual). I fitted a new carb and tuned the saw all was not quite right. So I had the saw tuned at the shop. When I went to use the saw the idle was very high so I adjusted it slightly. The idle was erratic and the saw would occasionally stall. I've since had it checked at the shop and they found nothing wrong with the saw yet the problem continues. I'm inclined to think the problem is with the new carb but if anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful for any input. Thanks
