  1. With a three mile long convoy of tanks and no doubt air support on the way and since the West has used up all of its sanction cards I can hazard at a guess what the negotiations are going to be. Surrender now or be obliterated. Russia-Ukraine latest: Three-mile column of Russian troops and tanks 'moving towards Kyiv' WWW.TELEGRAPH.CO.UK A three-mile column of Russian troops and tanks have been... Grim times.
  2. That's what I'm thinking. Unfortunately it could get far worse for the Ukraine's. Hopefully there will be some agreement as they have planned talks, I just can't see it though.
  3. Tbh I thought that the Russian army would have easily taken the Ukraine by now. Surely what we are seeing is only a fraction of the Russians capabilities. I can't see Putin giving up so does that mean we are going to see a big step up in Russian offensive? I don't mean nuclear as I very much doubt that that is going to ever happen.
  4. That and so should your neighbour. Hopefully it landed on enough things (fences, sheds etc) that the cost of removal will be covered.
  5. All I can say is I hope they are getting better care in nicer surroundings than someone who hasn't worked a day in their lives.
  6. Imagine it being ok to steal the petrol out of the machines not in use in the workshop! Maybe drain the diesel out of your storage tank to boot. Madness.
  7. Unless you need something that is low profile or quick pumping just buy the most reasonably priced one, they all do the job. Just some do it better in other ways.
  8. That tree will not cause any foundation issues, don't let it put you off buying the house.
  9. I don't think they I have ever worked a Sunday, Saturday's very, very rarely and only when it was necessary for a good client. Imo it's pointless me having a family if I don't get to spend time with them! I try to stay away from the shops on a Sunday and spend it pottering around the house/garden, taking the kids to the park and now and then visting the family. I think it would be nice to get to the good old days when nearly everything was shut on a Sunday and we were more or less forced to have a bit of down time. I know too many lads who have become addicted to working the weekends and can't cope without the extra cash. I see some countries are looking at a four day working week which although I think would be great I just don't see how it would work effectively unless every business adopted it. I hope Elon gets his Tesla bot up and running quick sharpish.
  10. Iirc Sweden are looking to go cashless within the next few years. Shirley it's on the cards for every country within the decade. Except for Thailand, my mate assures me that it's still fifty p for a wank at the beach. I doubt that they could keep those costs down not with transaction fees and the lack of rust proof card terminals!
  11. I'm not suggesting he should whip up a posse and kick the widows back door in. Quite the opposite. A decent neighbour would take an interest and help out where they could. Anyway, I think I will leave this for now as it seems that I'm not explaining what I would do correctly, or if that is coming across in the right manner.
  12. Not just to find out if she is fit to talk to but more for the reason as to not cause any undue stress to her. I imagine that she most be going through terrible times and I would rather not just knock on her door and ask for my goods back. I thought that it would be best if a friendly neighbour was there too. I think we can dismiss her faculties and competence since she won't answer the phone or as I mentioned she may not be able to do so. The OP needs his goods back and I thought that it might be the best approach rather than going down the route of solicitors letters etc. Go down there and find out what is going on while trying to not cause undue grief to the widow. I hope ag manages to find a way to sort it out, a tricky situation for sure.
  13. If you were keeping hold of someone's property then tough. Maybe you would prefer someone came and kicked your door down then. I think you totally misunderstood what I was trying to say.
  14. That's a good call. She may have taken ill or worse. Personally I would, or would have taken a trip down there with every bit of correspondence from herself and her husband. I would knock on a neighbours door and explain the situation, hopefully they could provide some further info and if possible they would accompany me to the house. At least that way it would be less if at all intimidating.
  15. I'm not sure but that's what I've heard. Makes sense I suppose. Not worth wearing some ppe only to have it compromised by a sticker!
  16. Making the news today. Young guns is on bbc soon, that's worthy of a mention me thinks.
  17. I had to bin a helmet years ago as some numpty gave us some site approved stickers that he had printed out at home. Apparently the wrong glue can degrade the plastic. Dunno how true that is but best to look into it.
  18. You could just switch your phone off when doing something or going somewhere that you don't want anyone to know about. Might have to dust off the good old A-Z though.
  19. I used to sub to a bloke who's kit degraded over time and started to become really dangerous. He would just bodge it up (he didn't use it so it wasn't his concern, I guess) and have a go at people when that bit of kit wasnt used. I tried to explain the problems and I did take on the role of fixing the issue's as best I could and making sure everyone knew which bits of kit not to use. As things got worse and he cared even less I decided that it was best to get out of dodge and stopped working for him. He did go through a lot of employee's and thankfully there were no fatalities but plenty of minorish accidents. If anyone finds themselves in the same situation, don't waste your time trying to help them out, fook em off and don't look back.
  20. Ive never wanted to own a pair of mustard coloured trousers as much as I do now. I was hoping to own a rouge colored pair but mustard now tops my list!
  21. Don't get upset about it. Pete knows his stuff, just accept that others are far more qualified and experienced than you are and that we should listen to what they say. He isn't trying to pull the wool over your eyes. If you don't like the product then don't buy it or use it but it's not worth bad mouthing it and trying to stop others from using it just because you don't understand how it works. Stick to what you know and understand and let the experts get on with giving professional advice. Tbh I wish I had listened to pro advice long ago as I probably wouldn't have had wrist and elbow damage from using shitty old techniques.
  22. I think it's best to listen to Pete on this one, he has more than enough experience to know what he is taking about. It's a very simple and effective bit of kit. If the little wire thing is looking worn then replace it before use, if it fails while in use (in reality it won't cause any safety issues) then you didn't do your pre work checks. Mountains out of mole hills for a device that is in daily use by many arbs.
  23. I thought that was going to be a nice chrismasy song for the kids to listen to. Regretting Alexa playing that throughout the house now.
  24. That ain't no woman, it's a man man.
  25. I know of two mewp fatalities, one I knew the other I heard about from a work mate who knew them. Both of them due to poor/non existent maintenance. Used mewps and gienes plenty of times, they do have their limitations thats for sure but I presume that on the whole they are very safe. There are probably more platforms in use daily than there are arbs climbing trees tone hundred fold. Nothing wrong with the machine but maybe it's not the greatest thing to use in arb due to how we use them.
