  1. I'll have to watch that clarkson show now it sounds interesting and I don't even like farmers. I remember me and my mates weeding by hand on a farm during the school summer holidays for a few extra dollars, the farmer was a right miserable cnt and tried to get out of paying on the last week. Sadly I heard years later that he stuck a shotgun in his mouth.
  2. I guess that something has been lost in translation. I very much doubt that the tree company told Mrs miggings that watering her flowers caused the cherry tree to grow back. More than likely they may have said, we have put some poison on the stump and make sure you don't wash it off by watering the garden within the next 3/6 hours or so. I may have missed it but when was the tree felled? Those suckers next door look like that they have had a growing season or two. If the neighbours are kicking up a fuss it's the landlords issue not the tenants.
  3. I see that there had been a lot of replies so you may have your answer already (I'm haven't read through it all) The tree can still grow from the existing root system hence why me and few others have suggested that it needs poisoning. Your mum watering her flowers is gong to make fook all difference because one, it rains from time to time in old Blighty and two, the roots will have a well established system of finding water way below ground level. If that was my job I would fell to ground level, poison the stump and if there were any surface roots slash them with a saw and poison them. I would then say to the customer it may still grow back, if it does keep cutting any regrowth and it will eventually die off or give us a call and we will see poison it a second time for free. Just be thankful it's not a white pop.
  4. Now that's a blast from the past!
  5. I would just cover it over with soil and forget about it. Cherrys can sucker, you might get shoots growing from the roots or stump but just keep cutting them down or you could buy some round up to kill it off. The roots won't grow if there isn't any foliage.
  6. I thought the same when I tried the motorway diving thing but the light never went out. This worked though, with the tool you can see the soot levels in the dpf before and after the regen. It doesn't always work from what I read at the time but it certainly worked for me. Sounds like the option of getting yours cleaned is far simpler. I couldn't do that with mine and I think a new dpf was around £800-1000 ish.
  7. It could be worth seeing if a local garage will do a forced regen. I had a Renault years ago that wouldn't regenerate the dpf no matter what additives I tried and loads of motorway miles. I ended up buying a diagnostic tool that you plugged into the car and and worked it through a laptop, you can probably do it with a smart phone nowadays. It has loads of things including the option to force a regen of the dpf. It took about an hour but it worked. It cost about £150 iirc which was a lot cheaper than a new dpf.
  8. Forget the foraging for berries and wood. Boris said if I buy a kettle I can save £10 a year! I've just ordered 5,000 kettles, by this time next year I can retire. Down there for dancin..
  9. I'll reply in the covid thread when I get a chance as I guess the vast majority of people reading this aren't interested and it is just ruining the thread.
  10. Go and read the article you posted it's been updated. All the info is there. Stalking the same article says she's been banned. It's not breaking news, it's news from two years ago. Btw I'm not defending anything, I'm just pointing out fake news/ misinformation.
  11. A quick Google shows that there is a crucial bit of info that TracyK2017 from Twitter (now banned from Twitter) failed to acknowledge which completely twists the advice. Surprise surprise.
  12. Would have been fitting with today's news but alas no.
  13. They need to draft in the old bloke with a small hammer.
  14. Plenty of good advice on here. If you haven't done something like this before I suggest that if you get the job, at the very start get your level and get the customer to agree that it's correct. Because, no one has ever, in the history of hedge topping, got to the end of the job only for the customer turn around and say that it needs another 6 inches taking off!
  15. Shirley you have noticed the increase of the quality of your water and electricity since it was privatised?
  16. The U.S.military budget is more than 30 times that of NASA's. IMO space exploration is definitely not a waste. The technological advances from space technology also filter down to the consumer level, along with military advances too so there are other advantages to the mahoosive spending. I might not have explained that very well but I imagine most people get the gist. At least it keeps a lot of people in work if nothing else.
  17. Well the rocket launch didn't really go according to plan!
  18. Hopefully there won't be any more delays as you say it has been a long time coming.
  19. Making the news tomorrow a around 13:30 UK time. NASA: Artemis I WWW.NASA.GOV Artemis I will be the first in a series of increasingly complex missions to build a sustained...
  20. Cracking pics as always Mr H. I hope you foraged some of those oyster mushrooms.
  21. Sounds like its nearly as bad as Japanese knotweed!
  22. It's forest green, do you have a problem with that.
  23. Although i do agree with that to a point some peoles opinions are far more valuable than the opinion of others. For example, I will give eggs opinion on how to install a water pump/supply far more weight than say your opinion. If your opinion is down right garbage then theres no problem whatsoever in calling it out. Opinions only have value if they can be backed up with proven repeated, I was going to say science but I know a lot of people are scared of that word so maybe proven experience will do. Unless someone is asking you what your favorite colour is, in that case yeah, you can respect and value their opinion. IMO of course.

    Generator

Just out of interest how much fuel do these generators use?
  25. Short answer is no, it isn't safe to work in close proximity to live electric cables.
