  1. Stihl MS200T Arborist saw on eBay (end time 06-Aug-10 19:06:09 BST) Just in case any one fancies one.
  2. Good for 750kg i think, though you'd never fit that much wood on it. It was a surprise when it turned up tbh, I was expecting a smaller slimmer one that I had hired in the past, i had less than an inch to spare gettig it through the gate. The design isn't perfect as its really ment for loose earth etc, but it was ideal for rings. Just drive up to the end of the log, push a ring over onto the shovel, flip it in, drive forward and repeat. I filled my trailer in no time. Tipping is a problem though as when the trailer gets full the shovel gets in the way a bit. Nothing you cant get round though, and way better than a wheelbarrow. I'd definately hire it again. it may be in some video I took but I was that knackered last week i haven't bothered looking at it yet.
  3. I took three big ish black pines down last week, The client changed his mind on keeping the timber and asked me to take it all away. I could have got a man in for the day, but this track barrow only cost £60 delivered, it had its own shovel so you could flip the rings streight into the bucket drive out and dump into the trailer, I even used it to pull the bigest stem over. way better than a man would have been.
  4. Quirte right, btw I think doves and wood pigeons build equally crap nests. Magpies on the other hand... we took one out the other day, I'll bet it weighed 5 stone!
  5. You've probably seen those little metal spikes used to stop pigeons roosting on window ledges and signs etc. Look what this nest is made of..
  6. Mine is on its third carb and is just beginning to show signs of the same problem. let us know if you get anywhere Dean. BTW The MS362 is performing brilliantly...touch wood
  7. Now what are you going to do with it?
  8. personaly i would never have a figure 8/ double8 loop on the end of a climbing line as its very hard to undo once its been loaded. There's nothing worse than pulling your rope back through a crotch and getting it jammed, a bowline is easy to undo and tie again saving a lot of hassle. If you want to back up a bowline use the water bowline instead, it doesn't come undone and yet is easy to tie and undo. I use it on my rigging line. I have a spliced eye on my climbing line though...
  9. My view; and yes we do take it for granted, every so often you remember and sit down and enjoy it.
  10. I got one off jonsie at capel, I like it, no probs with it, plenty power.
  11. I don't have net bags unfortunately, just bulk bags still got some great stuff though. how about a bulk load?
  12. my grandad used to say (with respect to less attractive women) " you don't look on the mantle piece when you're poking the fire"
  13. When i worked on the game farm we used one called a hippo, it was very reliable, don't know if they still make them.
  14. I think you're right Mike, although to be fair I don't think any of the uk qualifications are designed to make good efficient workers. They were primarily developed to endemnify employers and their insurers against lawsuits by injured staff. What most nptc modules seem to cover is a list of common "faults" identified by accident data as being most likely to lead to injury. Once the employee has been made aware of these it is harder for him to sue. I do agree though many people seem to think that the quals make you the genuine article. They don't.
  15. If at all possible I like to tie in to another tree, obviously if there isn't one then rupe's advice is the best course of action, but having a rope to one side, even if your other anchor is level with you, will make things much much easier.
  16. any price paid??? I have a rotten stick of poplar, its around 3 feet long and about 4inches thick. I was thinking maybe £65... interested??

    VAT Rise

With the coming vat rise how do you think you will adapt? personally I think its a nightmare for us vat registered tree surgeons, since there are so many who aren't registered, we are 20% dearer. I'd like to see the VAT threshold either increased to £150k or reduced to 30K that way it would be more of a level playing field. My turnover around the 100k mark is currently on the wrong side of the threshold, I'd either like to de-register or for my competitors to all register too. So my poll question is: What should the government do.

    200t for sale

Thanks for the pm's, I wasn't going to put a price on it, just see if anyone wants to make an offer before sticking it on ebay. They seem to make good money on there, but i often see posts on here looking for them so I thought I'd see if anyone fancies it.

    200t for sale

This has been my second saw for a few years, It was bought fully re-conditioned from Gustharts, it had had new bariungs and many other parts. I have used it occasionaly since then as a backup saw. Now I have bought a new one and so don't really need it anymore. I will be sticking it on ebay, but if anyone makes me the right offer I'll sell it here first. It has a 14"bar and is in good working order. Cheers

    My Ride

I take it you took that last pic seconds before you got stuck? nice landy, well all landies are nice.
  23. Mine's the old model, says 160:001_smile: they are well comfy mate. If I get time I'll be heading up north for a long weekend before the summers out, I have a 4 peice travel fly rod that I take, find a nice spot catch a few trout and sit by the fire, you cant beat it mate. Sweden looks like the ideal place for such a jolly too.
  24. looks like fun, I have one of these, Travel Hammock / Bivi - DD Hammocks they are well made for the money and rated to 160Kg, thats amost enough for you Josh. I have only tried it near ground level, but no reason why it wouldn't work up a tree. Very comfortable and surprisingly hard to fall out of , has a built in midgie net too, essential in scotland.
